So, everywhere I look there are toons with 460+ GS. When doing research as to how, the most common thing I find is recalibration. I don't get it. I have recalibrated many different gears and never, not once has GS increased due to Recal. What am I missing? How TF does this work? Currently stuck at 454 (No big deal as only 425 required for T5) but it is very frustrating wasting materials for nothing. And it has me wondering if I will be able to reach 500+ with recalibration not working for me. Any help/advive would be greatly appreciated.
If you replace weak abilities with strong abilities you will get higher GS. For example, an item with 2% crit rate, replaced by 5% crit rate will increase it's gear score.
You may strike a cap, where if you choose a high value (say 8.5% crit rate) the item may limit it to a lower value.
As long as the new stat is higher, so too will be your gear score.
I have several GS465 items from doing this. The better stats being the goal, the GS increase just a side effect.
Talent recal won't increase GS, for info.
Only the attributes like wpn dmg, CD, CC, health, armor, etc can increase GS..
example:
You choose a particular attribute say CC crit chance 4%. You'll have a list of gear with offensive attributes.
If you choose an item with higher CC 8% for example, top right below your GS, there's a green bracket number showing a higher GS. That's what you'll get if you press and hold F.
No green bracket GS, no GS increase.
If you choose an item with higher CC 12% for example, and you see it's capped at 10%, that's the max GS you can get out of that piece of gear.
GS 448 can go up to 463 if you find gear with high attributes. Based on what I see so far, purple items tends to have high attributes. Do keep them.
