Greetings! Far Cry forums are now archived and accessible in read-only mode, please go to the new platform to discuss the game.

    Completing storyline diminishes incentive to continue to play (Unlike prequel's NG+)

    The storyline could be the end. Or an ending and a new beginning

    Unlike Far Cry 5 where you introduced the NG+ feature, which was one I greatly appreciated, this sequel Far Cry New Dawn needs something similar and/or different but equally exciting!

    Completing the storyline diminishes incentive to continue to play

    The game is quite easy (with the difficulty set at the highest possible setting). Simply completing the storyline, discovering all locations - including the puzzles, secrets and expeditions - while continuously upgrading the elite level weaponry to the point of being vastly overpowered was exciting and enjoyable until you realize that the only thing left to do ultimately lands on hunting.

    Large portions of the open-world map does not need serve a singular purpose at the cost of repetitive familiarity

    The area covering almost a third of the open-world loses meaningful exploration;

    • The north side mostly constrict movement between the water, a few unexciting cliffs as soon as you progress past "into the wild"

    • The relics of Josephs monument serves, at best, as a landmark for orientation while the prequel offered way more. A lot of intense events as well as mystery and lore made this the ideal central for the county, at least when the different regions had an important function.

    • "Scavenge" on highest difficulty and level offer little challenge, this bleeds over to the incentive to collect prestige outfit components as you get a full set in 10-15 minutes.

    • Monstrous beasts makes the deputy far too valuable for hunting to be challenging, this is specially true once you've completed the game.

    Far Cry 5 offered a more cinematic and static progression while FCND focused on the open world aspect

    I'm all for that. It didn't make a lot of sense to me when I realized just how small Hope County have become.
    I like both games and I am hoping that the best of the prequel's still in the making and that something similar to NG+ (Scavenge doesn't quite fill the role) combined with added NPCs, beasts and Highwaymen - henchmen and enforcers alike - both in variation, ability and difficulty - will be added. That and what ever the geniuses at Ubisoft come up with!

    Thank you for reading and hopefully players like me could chime in and bump this; I rather crave than regret, suggest than correct, experience over memories.

    A couple areas I really think could have been fleshed out better was the fight club and race arenas. IMO they should have done something similar to FC4's arena, except in a closed canyon with lots of natural features to use for cover and vantage points. Maybe even make is so with certain resources gathered you could make a few types of traps. At the very least have tiered battles that use either different weapons each tier, and/or different types of enemies and styles of fighting.

    The derby race arena should have doubled as a figure eight for derbys, and a longer, twisty track with banked turns for pure racing. Instead of just attacking vehicles in racing, you would only be allowed to shoot at natural elements to slow or crash other racers, such as triggering log piles to roll, boulders to fall, or bait to lure monstrous beasts like bison. Maybe even a sticky bait you could toss at other vehicles. After all, some of the strongest glue is actually made from animal fat, like Gorilla Glue.

    it's funny how we all see things so many different ways..
    I actually thought game plus was like running a cheat code or something in feel.. totally not fun.. tried it for 10 minutes and quit in FC5..
    I get "replay" from my games from starting them from the start and "replaying them" LOL

    Scavenge is great, you don't even have to take the Outpost, just leave it up for having a fight when you're nearby, that is if you don't need the ethanol.
    Maxing out your character toward easy mode and removing challenge is a choice you make and your choices define your character.

    If you want a challenge you have to be willing to take lower tier weapons against high tier enemies to bring the challenge back.
    You have to choose to take your Guns for Hire into the fight or not. You have to choose to take the boons you've receive from the Bliss and Forbidden Fruit or not, nobody is forcing you to. Will you become the Monster? Or remain human? It's like in that other post atomic game where you can go find the Legendary Weapon and one shot everything in the game from level 3 to 18 or you can rough it with the shoddy rifle you found on a dead man that requires a few extra shots to kill the average mook and learn to use whatever junk you find and deal with the challenges and advantages that brings you.

    I know it's hard to resist the immediate gratification that perks, powers, potions, spells, scopes, etc give you, but that's part of your personal challenge after beating anything. Like riding a bicycle with training wheels, or holding the wall at the roller rink, or drinking with friends before going the hardcore alcoholic route of drinking alone...i forget where I was going with this, but someday you'll understand and just remember the bats aren't real.

    It's nice that you have the option for it. You can still replay normally. I will do game + with hardest settings and no guns for hire.

    Sure, if I mastered chess or training for an e-sport event but as far as interactive and payed experiences go - as long as I'm not asking for something that hasn't been done before - I don't think I should necessarily have to be that enthusiastically creative with how I enjoy a top tier game.

    I completely understand your point but there's quite a lot of denial in "gimping" rather than perfecting my established and developing tactics. And quite honestly I could make do without original textured and modeled objects like character customizations, guns and so forth;

    Achievements, bonuses for completing something in an original or challenging way could easily be added to - at least - quadruplicate the amount of gratifying content, to mention one idea.

    I share your philosophy in life but I would only disagree in this case because I have a point of reference that leans toward viability in my arguments specifically related to lack of diversity and/or content since I have invested time and resources for a game from a series that unfortunately have the effect to create high expectations*

    * That's not a reference to moore's law albeit somewhat a part of taking issue in limitations due to the increase of computing power, VRAM, et cetera.

    Sidenote:
    I do actually apply your suggestions to some games no longer under development or that lack in an online community (Give Ezquake a try!)

    it does appear to me at times.. reading what folks complain about.. that they want Far Cry to be another type games than it is.. I think they got themselves the wrong game.. not that the game is wrong.

    No, I love the Far Cry series. They are beyond a shadow of doubt one of the best available to PC-players, from the beginning, and I loved it so much I actually want more of it, not changed. Added or expanded, and not if it requires already present content to be removed or altered.
