    Skills are a hot mess

Skills in this game need some serious fixing. What I am about to say relates to endgame perspective primarily but can be applied to any point in the game as well.

Lets start with pulse. This skill simply just sucks, in all its forms. The cooldown is too long and the range is too short. I have not seen a single person use this skill so you know it is bad.

Turret can be a useful distraction if you place it right. The flame turret is nice because of the CC it provides with the flames, too bad the cone is limited. Heavy enemies will also run up to turrets and destroy them in a second. The cooldown is once again too long. The sniper turret is pure garbage.

Hive is probably the only skill that is useful in all its variants. Too bad the cooldown is way too long. Also the revive hive is a glitchy mess that doesn't work half the time.

Chem launcher is pretty nice because it has a reasonable cooldown and can have multiple charges. Reinforcer is great for healing yourself and allies, firestarter is great for CC and oxidizer is great as well. Only one that sucks is riot foam, the aoe is too small and the duration is crap. One thing that sucks about the chem launcher is how clunky it is to use. If you're in cover and shoot it your idiot agent will stay out of cover after word, this needs to be fixed.

Firefly is a heaping pile of trash, overall probably the worst skill in the game overall. It is a clunky mess that needs severe work.

Seeker mine is decent, namely the cluster bomb. Once again however it is clunky to use at times. Also too bad the damage is trash in endgame.

For the drone the fixer and tactician are pretty good. Defender can be decent but the bombardier and striker are garbage, their damage is crap in the endgame and the enemies will destroy them quickly. The cooldowns once again suck horribly.

Last skill is the shield. What a worthless skill, tell with a straight face that any of the shields are worth using in the endgame. You would think they would be a nice tool for drawing agro for your team but these things get blown to pieces in seconds.

Many skills need to have their sluggish nature fixed. Also cooldowns need to be shortened to degree on many skills. The other problem is scaling, so many skills are trash because they simply stop scaling. Guns get stronger with gear score and the damage ranges increase. Skills remain stagnant and thus suck. Yes there are mods but oh boy is the modding system for skills trash.

First of all, skill power is one of the most idiotic things ever. I first thought it increased the strength of my skills but nope, all it does is act as a gate to be able to use skill mods. The amount of skill power needed to use some mods is absurd especially for the minimal increase. I have seen skill mods that give +20% damage for over 7000 skill power but other mods give +13% damage for 2000 skill power. Are you serious? The skill power requirement needs to be thrown in the trash, mods should just be usable no matter what. Either that or allow skill power to do something like "for every 100 skill power increase stats of skills a percentage."

As it stands endgame really only focuses around pure DPS (that means building for armor and tankiness is also trash but that is another story). The chem launcher is really the only skill used consistently in endgame. Please fix this mess.

the reflector shield can be utterly abused to cover some rediculous angles and make you near invincible, but beyond that, pretty much correct

EDIT: also, mods for skills are based off gear score and not the strength of the mod which also seems broken. you can have something like +35% radius for 800 skill power and gs 150 but then have something like +20% radius for 3,000 skill power just because it's gear score 450 item

I use a skill build. My chem launcher ticks for around 40k on non elites and around 60k on elites once i get all my buffs running. I does that over a 30 foot radius. It really is getting obnoxious that people keep coming here to ***** about something they don't understand. It is also obnoxious that you people really think you should be able to build out a full dps gun oriented build AND have boosted skills too. You couldn't really do that in D1, why would you be able to here?

Having skill power just boost the strength of skills takes so much out of the ability to build skills the way you want them to perform. I don't want my turret to hit harder. I want the 3 + duration skill mods I have in it. My turret lasts for like 8 minutes. That CC capability is so much more important than it hitting a bit harder for a minute.

I do totally agree that some of the skills are broken or worthless at the moment. They will fix them. They are working hard it seems.

Bottom line, actually take the time to build out a skill power build and use it before you come in here whinging. It is clear you have not.

Everyone knows skill builds are not feasible currently. Get off your high horse mate 😂🙈

The base stats for my oxidizer, where I have no skill anything, is ~15k damage per tick over 3m. What talents, armor perks, and mods did you use to get 4x the damage and 10x the radius?

I agree some skills are not well-made, probably will be changed. But some skills are useful and you can actually make a build using them. I do have a 7.9 SP character who does very well in PvE. Not PvP, because I haven't yet tried to make a viable build with normalization and all, but I'm sure there's one.

a big part of the problem is a lot of the skills just are not worth using. defender drone is useless outside of it's extremely specialized build, fixer drone is alright, the dps chem launcher is good, the healing chem launcher is imo best skill in the game, supposedly one of the seeker mines has a build, and the fire and OG turret are good. Other than that, pretty much all the rest might as well not exist.

Some of the CD's are a tad long, but think a lot of it would be solved if they would reset once you're out of combat.
Right now it often leads to us just waiting before enganging the next trash pack because the skills are on CD. Just a waste of time really.
