Just wondering if there is a problem with exotic drop rates. | Forums

Asked this on the subreddit, and people either told me to "grind more I got it after 5 attempt" or told me "haha exaggerate more" and so I asked support if there was an issue, and they said not that they are aware of, so I wanted to see if anyone on the forums was having the same amount of luck.

I have currently done 70 hyena missions on Challenging or Hard difficulty. It is not an arbitrary number it comes from 40 for the do each mission 10 times commendation. 20 more tries just in hope of getting the exotic, and 5+1+1+1+1+1 as a hail mary attempt at a "just one more" exotic drop.

Pretty much every instance of someone getting the exotic to drop has been 1-9 attempts. I have not seen anyone say they have gotten a drop after doing a large amount of missions or even any numbers after 10. Statistically there should be some, and there just aren't.

I couldn't find anything listed anywhere on the forums if anyone else was having this trouble, and I just want to find out a bit more to see if anyone has gotten it after 10+ attempts or if other people are still not having any drops after many many attempts.

Deagle drops 100% from bosses.
Rifle droped from the second run of Bank office)))
Chatterbox - already have one piece, but i'm not farming keys and boxes.

That seems to be the general consensus. Just an FYI, the Merciless rifle is supposed to drop from any Hyena mission(Bank, Hotel, Arena, or JTC), the Sweet Dreams is supposed to drop from any Outcast mission (DCD, Roosevelt, PEC, and the FEB). Also just as a small addition that I forgot to mention I have had 0 issue from the 100% drop chances on the Liberty exotic, and I have already acquired the Chatterbox exotic.

RNG my friend. I’ve grinder for merciless since day 1 after hitting wt4. You need it to upgrade the preorder exotic.

I’ve easily done hyena missions 100+ times from dragging friends to 30 to simply grinding for the weapon. Nothing has dropped.

Challenging isn’t worth the headache anymore and heroic is coming. If there’s no guaranteed exotic from heroic, that’s not even worth it.

thank god im not the only One Struggling ive ran 100 Challenge 100 Hard on each of the Hyena Locations and what did i get to show for it Nada Zilch not a single one its Unfuriating to me really cuz i need said rifle for the Demolition Build and the game Just dont want to give me a break it feels like Destiny 2 all over again for me at this point

Liberty pieces drop 100% on any difficulty. Farmed it a second time on normal mode in under an hour.

Had trouble with the chatterbox. Was missing one piece. It was from the federal triangle I think (the one with the police station) would not drop. Then I found out there was a hyena cache in the district union stronghold. Ran that mission and got the final piece from there.

My clan member got Merciless after 18 runs of Jefferson Trade Center (JTC) mission on challenging difficulty. I did get mine just yesterday from JTC after 5 challenging runs and 7 hard runs.

I did not have any issues collecting parts for the sidearm. Chatter box was worse, it took me 8 Hyena keys to get magazine mod (did it on 3rd day, since there are only 3 boxes in t can drop from). I save both weapons for WT5.

Merciless is useless gun. All it is good for is its buff to other weapons, which means it is PvP weapon, or deconstructing it for 2 exotic components.

I use merciless its great for armored mobs like the heavy gunner the damage numbers go big if you miss the 2nd shot for a 5 stack

I've done my dailies, joined others on theirs....not a single thing.

First time my friend does one of the missions when we were unlocking T4, Merciless drops for him. I just thought "oh cool, they drop that often, this is gonna be great" and then yeah....nothing for me =/

At least the Pistol and the SMG were guaranteed (at least for me, only took finding all pieces before the Blueprints dropped on the first try)

I do find the original post very interesting. From what i've read, most people find their exotic from bosses within a few runs, but those that been grinding 100+ never seem to post to say "Hey, just got mine after <no.> runs. I've done about 100+ runs myself and have not seen an exotic weapon drop from a boss. I know RNG sucks, but I've always thought a lot of games had broken RNGs.
The only exotic piece i've had an issue with was the marksman rifle, the part when you demolish the weapon found in the hovercraft. I didn't get the exotic crafting item and had to wait another week to try it again. it worked the second time.
