Hello,
I am having the exact same problem. When using my Xbox One controller wirelessly over bluetooth the controls are wrong. "B" is "Y" and all of the other problems that the OP was having. Somewhere in the chain the representative from ubisoft asked if the problem was solved by connecting the controller via a USB cable. I have plugged mine in with USB and it did seem to stop the problem the controls now work as expected. However I would like to be able to play wirelessly
Hopefully this can get fixed soon.
I have also not been able to use xbox one controller. Unable to map look to right joystick. Look appears to be on Left and right triggers. Also B back button appears to be Y. Does not recognize controller as X box only as X-input but does not allow remap.
Game also crashes to desktop during opening theater scene when using controller.
Not controller related but game also goes black when changing resolutions and upon launch will truncate screen because of not launching in correct resolution.
2021 and still no fix. This is unbelievable. A multi-million dollar company acting as if they were a guy in his damn garage. Even that would be better I think. They should feel ashamed. Everyone involved in developing the control bit of this game should feel ashamed and quit their job and never work in software and game development ever again in their life. From the guy designing the logo for the .exes to the one setting up the file relations and updates. Disgusting. God damn disgusting.
As the useless Ubisoft representants and game designers offer no solution, check out this threads in Steam:

I'm not in the mood to go through all this s**t after a week of work and study.
