If there will ever be a The Crew 3 it will be designed and developed to fit with the then current version of consoles and the then current state of pc-technologie. But why thinking already about a third part of The Crew when the second is not even out for a year. The Crew 1 came out at the end of 2014. The Crew 2 came out in summer 2018. So a possible The Crew 3 will surely not come before 2022.
I would rather speculate about whats coming in or for TC2 in the next year then to speculate about the technical state of a The Crew 3.![]()
IMO they should of waited till next gen to release a sequel to The Crew. The Crew as a franchise would of been MUCH better off if they just kept updating the original. Then release a new sequel on next-gen hardware. Releasing a sequel that you plan to support for the next coming years when the next generation of consoles are probably around the corner is just a bad Idea all around. Add in the fact that the game is pretty much dead leads me to believe that we won't see The Crew 2 supported for as long as The Crew 1 was. Although that is just a prediction.
If they had kept updating the original, the game would have broken even more, maybe to a point where it gets unplayable. Just look at how badly Wild Run and Calling All Units have messed with the game, how broken sessionmanagement has gotten because of CAU, how many Awards were broken because of the updates. How bad the headlights were post Wild Run and how instable the game ran in general post Wild Run (microstutters). Each new major update would have turned out to be another nail in the game's coffin. The Crew 1 was never intended to be expanded in the way it was while The Crew 2 was developed with expansions in mind.
That aside, also consider this: not everyone wants to buy the next-gen consoles right away, nor does everybody want to upgrade their PCs constantly. The way this is done now, they can reach a wider audience with the game.
