ALL mods give disadvantages to the weapon?

I'm only level 8 so I'm not far into the game at all so far, although I've noticed that every single mod I've got gives an advantage AND a disadvantage to the weapon. I've no idea why this is, but it seems quite odd and really prevents you from even wanting to use mods on your weapons. It's almost as if you're better off just leaving your weapon bare and not using any mods at all.

Are there certain weapons which perform better with certain mods, even though the mods themselves have disadvantages? I'm just not sure which mods to add to my weapons because of this to be honest.

It's a tradeoff you have to make. If a weapon has a high stability for example you could use mods that decrease stability, but increase other aspects of the weapon to help bring up it's performance.

Yes. The new mod system is trash and many don't even want to use mods.

I rarely use mods, as Sparhawk122 said. But yes, I'm 450+ and everything I've found has a tradeoff. Some are a hell of a lot more glaring than others though. Like the LMG mag where you trade like 25% reload for a 15% reduced mag size.

I'm just waiting for others a lot better at math to tell me what my mods should be, if any.

it allows for experimentation and it keeps weapons form feeling the same. ive got a sniper with stability mods so i can use mods that reduce stability and get something i want to use to experiment and see how it works. people are complaining because they cant use their brains and come up with something on their own and have to rely to their favorite youtuber to tell em what to do.

I like the way people call the new mod system trash because you have to trade, you people make me laugh. "We want everything and the best all at the same time"

If you use the sharpshooter specialization you can use some of the mods without any big negatives, I'm on PC and I don't mind having bad stability because I can easily(most of the time) control the spray pattern - I guess good that I play CS right No but seriously if you use that specialization you're getting 30% to reload speed and 30% stability(with max upgrades), which is a lot and opens a little room to use some weapon mods. Obviously, there are some weapon mods that are really bad but they can be useful in some situations and if you're not in that situation just don't use them. I like how the system is, it makes you think a little more instead of seeing +20% elite damage and getting it immediately you see the -50% HS damage and probably back off, atleast you should

It's a game. Ofcourse we want everything to be fun. Many do not find the new mod system to be fun. Logic.

i hate it since my stability is always bugged up on the sharpshooter. i have plenty to spare when i logon, but if i die even once (or change to a new weapon) i lose the sharpshooter handling bonus... stupid bug.

reloging or respecing back into sharpshooter fixes it but that gets boring real quick.

if the sharpshooter handling bonus didn't bug out i'd have plenty of stability to spare for mods

The mods having negatives allow them to make larger impacts if they were just straight up bonus's they would be limited to small amounts.

it is about specialising your loadouts. as an example running AR/SMG my AR is fine from long down to 10m , but lower than 10m i need to be using the SMG and there is some overlap past 10 to where i need to swap back to the AR.

so what can i loose on my SMG? range - to a degree its my short range weapons so i dont need its full value. accuracy - at that range i cant miss so again i can loose some of that , reload vs clip size, in the likely situations im going to be using this a reload is going to be fatal so i can swap speed for mag size, ditch acc and range for crit/damage/rof
Loose nothing i need and gain a good DPS boost.

also bear in mind they deal in percantages a lot , loosing 10% accuracy for 20% stability doesnt mean you gain just 2X what it costs. if you have 20 acc and 80 sta. that is a 16 gain for a loss of 2, 8X

and last but not least these are the weakest mods there will ever be. odds are better ones will be added over time / rewards for high end content.

i really like the system its a lot more interesting than just picking an inconsequential buff
