So it's totally fine for enemies to not bother using cover, in a cover based shooter? You wouldn't consider that to be broken or a gaping flaw in the mechanics?

I played TD1 for 3yrs. 2500hr into game as full tactician 6p. Im not pvp player and beat max dz 99 lvl without fun at all.
I never use well known strongest dps builds, never use most popular weapons like m4 in TD1. I play for fun and experiment.
Because I often play alone, I do not have to show off to anyone (my dps is better than yours etc.)
I have no pleasure in using what others have in most cases.

I learn many players why to use in some situations smoke ball rather than dmg on npc shotgunners, how to use STAGGER effect with shotguns, how and when use SUPRESSION effect on LMG (and when stop firing when friendly sniper was trying to snipe NPC). How heal team and what is the good place to put healing box, turrets, how use shock turret and why in some situations are better than simple dmg. How to use cover correctly with respect to companions and how to take the good angle. How make good CQB entrance etc.
This all is destroyed and useless tactics post patch 1.3 bcoz TD1 going to be too easy (3x in my opinion) to use any andvanced tactics. Excpetion is maybe DLC Resistance.
Yes. I served in the army.

I have over 300 titles in my library. I played not only in tactical shooters but any other games, mmo, fps, base-building (all of them).

@Casughoul says "Post a video of you soloing a WT4 AL3+ Control Point"

Everyday i play mostly solo on WT4 bcoz my friends are not too young and they have various duties. So this is not my choice. This is life of old gamer
But I make this clear... i play solo in open world not Tier 4 challenge missions. If there is matchmaking I played with random ppls ofc.
Im not complaining about this game is too hard bcoz this game not force me to do missions in solo. Im not have fun with that.
Im playing solo in open world bcoz random ppl dont want to run&loot your world without clear target or bouty. Its simple.

My build are'nt broken or glith based. Its not easy and I often died but is very fun and enjoyable. ARMA is more hadcore - believe me.
But difference is...bcoz I old man I have ton of patience... They (NPC) rush if they have tactical adventage, they rare rush if you have tactical adventage.
Try to fight on your terms, withdrawal is often needed as in real life to sometimes hit in a different way.

Always have knowledge of what is behind you and in case of how to withdraw and do you know where to retreat.
Try to make one front fight. Go back if you have any flanks. Sometimes it need to go back 10m sometimes even 50m.
Keep your distance bcoz you're never know how many hp/armor NPC have and how long you must shoot to beeat him.
Do not let any obstacle block your view and allow the enemy to surprise you.

Before fight make small recon (recon drone are the best friend for single player), or at least make a diagnosis where they rushers are. Rushers = death if you not handle situation well. Recon is the always key in games or real life. You not die if you're not suprised. 90% deaths are from not expected flanking maneuver. Adding that the AI in TD2 is much faster than in TD1 you have a problem if you do not notice it within 3-5 seconds. Observe radar if yo're flanked dont waste time, change position fast or die.

Most players will recommend you to play dps. But there will be no dps when you are no armor/health. All player prefer to use dmg skills. But there is no enough good effect with dmg skills on very tanky NPC, you must stop him first, then build your dps on him or youre dead in seconds. Your choice, but there are blind skill, foam skill, blind grenades etc.

In real life dmg is not all. Some strong men they are able to shoot a hostage after being hit with AK47 in same situations terrorist no need to be killed instanlty rather to be unable to react first. He can still breath but important is prevent him from reacting first. His death in not the key in this situation. Hostage life is the key.
Use FULL cover system mechanics. I mean when you change angle, dont stand up! Wrap around the corner without getting up. If possible change cover in inclined position (target other cover then press and hold space key).

Ofc Im die often. Im not immortal. But its about 10% situations, mostly in bouty hunt solo with two bosses on challenging. Its often hard like hell
On challenging dfficulty on matchmaking session all depends of my team. Random situation = random results.
I would never like to play a game in which I usually win.

As I mentioned I always try to build around electronics, never using epic op dps "youtube" builds.
I play for fun ONLY and like to experiment myself.

I like to have fun with skills. Im not pro but I played game over 30yrs (Im 45) mostly Toms Clancy's series (all of them), ARMA (from Operation Flashpoint: Cold War Crisis), Insurgency, Insurgency:Sandstorm, Rainbow Six (all), Ghost Recon series (all).
I was player since PC platform not existed as dominant computer so there is the "all" sign bcoz when i was star playing games companies like EA make Deluxe Paint IV (graphic program) for AMIGA computers, there is no Blizzard known (no Diablo 1 yet), no Rockstar Games (no GTA even in 2D yet).
When I played games... there is no internet, no GSM, not HD TV, no hard discs... no floppy discs, only casette tape...

After 30yrs of playing games Im bored with dps. Its too obvious, it's everywhere - from Quake, Unreal - 3dfx ages . This is 30yrs guys, try to understand me.

My fist game is Bomb Jack in 1986 at Sinclair ZX Spectrum+. later ATARI 65E, AMIGA 500, AMIGA CD32, AMIGA 1200 and finally boring PC (AMD K6 266Mhz).
My love is going to AMIGA

Very very sorry for my crappy english. Its not my native language and Im only old man from the dust
Big Respect to all of you.

The enemies do use cover, why are you needlessly exaggerating things?

It's super important to actually be specific.

I have ZERO trouble in WT4 solo doing most content. It only becomes a problem when doing lvl3+ control points or challenging missions. And even then, it's only a problem if I'm not stacking based on the meta. If I go heavy weapon/elite damage, it's still not an issue.

The thing people still fail to realize is that a lot of the people having issues are not using the meta. They are trying to build a character using other stats available, and likely failing. You can't have a conversation about the difficulty without also having a conversation about the fact that many of the stats and builds simply don't work. It's a two-sided issue.

No, SOME of the enemies use cover. The snipers and RC car dudes. But the grenadiers, engineers, medics, gunners, rushers, suicide bombers, shield dudes and heavies all will regularly just break cover to yolo run up to and over your cover.

For rushers and suicide bombers, this is fine, they have low HP and weak points to compensate for their rushing.
For shield dudes and heavies they tend to stay at medium range and tank you with armour so that's fine.

But for grenadiers, gunners, engineers and medics they have high health, ranged weapons, and a one hit melee attack these enemies should not be out of cover rushing you, they should be in cover using their ranged weapons.

I thought I heard them say they were very aware of it, but they want to give people a chance to earn gear sets and hit GS 500+ before they decided on anything major. Apparently the sets are supposed to be pretty "crazy", to use their words.

Could be wrong, but, I thought I heard them specifically say this.

WT4 is already too much of a sponge grind for me as a mostly solo player. The whole "it's tactical/get gud" argument is BS. There's nothing tactical about the game just spawning a horde of purple rushers ten feet away. My excitement for WT5 is diminishing rapidly.

I hope they're not. I'm already bummed that the specializations are so specific and limited. If the sets are as powerful as "crazy" implies, they'll railroad the builds even further.
