    Ghost Mode!

I recently came to check the game out again and see this. Awesome! I used to crank the difficulty up and disable all the cheesy markers and indicators to make the game more realistic and challenging so I'm really happy to see a native Ghost Mode that does this at an even more base level to the game.

    >can't use your existing character
    ugh why
    >permadeath
    oh no
    >discard mags when you reload
    NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Why? Who got ahold of this great idea and decided to poison it in this way and why was he allowed to do it? What's the point in not being able to use my already existing character's cosmetics and have to completely start over customizing my cosmetics just because it's a different game mode? Permadeath? Who thinks permadeath is fun? Spending 15 hours trudging through a brutally realistic game only to have it bug out and kill you by teleporting you under a rock? No thanks. Discarding half full mags? Why? How? How is this still so pervasive after all of these years? This isn't realistic! Pockets exist!

What's the point of a "more realistic mode" if it's so broken that it's unplayable?

Hmmm, the whole marketing thing behind Ghost Mode are all your issues with it
    (1) A new game mode that is
    (2) punishing with perma death
    (3) with magazine drop reload system

Other marketed highlights with Ghost Mode
    (4) One primary weapon only
    (5) can only refill ammo and change inventory at ammo boxes.

I think what you're searching for is something I think I've seen the community request before
    (1) Ability to restart main campaign
    (2) TOGGLE system - Turn off/on
    > Dying = fail mission, no revives
    > 2nd primary weapon
    > magazine drop reload system

and there's more requests on other threads but I think these pertain to this one.

The one primary and only able to resupply at ammo boxes is fine as long as you can also scavenge off of downed NPCs. The problem with the new game mode is that it's too punishing. It's practically unplayable. The killer is the magazine drop system which is not even grounded in reality but still all the progress you make can be snuffed in an instant the second the game bugs out and you die to nothing. I know there are groups of people out there who enjoy brutality difficult games with permadeath but I'd be surprised if those two communities cross. I'm guilty of asking for more realistic game modes or options throughout social media for this game but not only is this not what I asked for but it's far from what I wanted.

Mabs, correct me if I'm wrong... but it sounds like you're upset that Ghost Mode isn't exactly the same as the normal campaign. What features of Ghost Mode do you like?

Did you see any improvements in your play style while playing Ghost Mode? Problems go away once the bar is raised. Took me weeks to knock the habit of reloading prematurely. I like Ghost mode so much and playing with randoms is a riot. Seeing them try and be Lil Rambos in Tier Mode.

To be fair your issue with the magazines in Ghost mode is actually pretty realistic - when you reload you don't see the character putting the magazine back in his webbing - nor do you ever see him loading up the magazines themselves. When a magazine is ejected it's literally dropped. In reality if you drop a weapon magazine with ammunition still in it, that ammunition's going to be on the ground where you dropped it - not magically in your pockets 500 metres away when you're on the other side of the battlefield

Perhaps in a future Ghost Recon game they'll have an option to manually reload magazines themselves in a "Ghost mode" - but for now, we have the closest thing possible within the game engine.

It's not that realistic though. A half full(or more) full mag would be returned to a mag pouch/drop bag in case of later need. Now if you actually went through all six or how many ever, full mags you are carrying, pulling one of those out would give you only how many ever bullets were left in each one. However, in a heavy fire fight, a half full mag is better than no mag.

    Very true!

I like the concept of Ghost Mode--but the perma death turned out to be more realism than I could cope with! It IS hard core though!
