    Just can't survive - help!

So I strolled through the early missions and side missions like they weren't there, and suddenly, out of NOWHERE, BAM, after one control point I died 10 times at (we're only talking level 6 or 7 here) and thereafter it's just absolutely constant death. Can't survive any firefights at all.

I'm playing normal difficulty and usually I'd expect one mission to be brutal, and then I level up and finally get tough enough to surpass it then for a while the rest is much more negotiable. For a while. Till the next big challenge. AKA the first game.

But this one, it's just as if it's gone from walk in the park to universally impossible in the blink of an eye.

Any tips for survival? Obviously there's grinding and looting, but that's just it - I don't survive any encounters/firefights now for me to GET any of that improved loot.

    What am I missing?!

    Thanks for any help.

Can I ask which Control Point this was, and what level the enemies are in comparison to yourself? Is this in solo or co-op?

I am pretty sure I've seen times the random world encounters were bugged. The spawning on top of you, I din't think, is the game working as designed. I was roaming the west end area and trying to do the construction site control panel, and enemies were just everywhere and pouring in endlessly. After dying a few times I bounced the game and then it was fine.

There is a major power-curve around lvls 7-8. Your best bet is to go to the crafting station and compare your current gear's armor values to the values of what you could craft. My bet is that you're way under-armored. I had to craft 3 or 4 gear pieces around that time and a new gun around lvl 9 just b/c I wasn't getting very good drops at the time.

Also, when you attempt a Control Point you're using your flare gun, right? If not, yeah you may die a lot the first few times. Especially if you're approaching them head-on where all of the NPCs can shoot at you at the same time.

    Learn to retreat.

I've had to kite what seems like a half mile backwards sometimes while trying not to run into more groups.

    Makes it interesting.

    You whittle them down eventually.

It was.... hmmmm. It was top right of the second area. Levels about 2-7? It's just north of the big Hyena showdown mission which I'm MILES off being ready for. Enemies in this whole area are same as me - 7. And I generally play solo. I know it's 'easier' in co-op but I'm a solo campaigner!

Whoa, didn't realise there were so many replies already! Allow me to chew through all of these and make further comment. Thanks for the help folks.

Remember that this is a co-op game so although you can do it solo it's not tailor made for that experience.

Yes, it seems I've hit the curve you're on about. I did think it was about little more than my armour and gear, but I've definitely not worked on enough crafting yet. Crafting station is where? White house? Or any base? Yes, as soon as the F prompt appears I launch it. At least, I do now... I forgot that at said control point and I forgot also to launch my turret too. Mind you, still died a couple of times after figuring that out in any case.

Thanks - first stop, crafting better gear. My armour does feel a bit flimsy. And perhaps a new gun or two. Hoping I can actually figure that out!

True, and neither was the first one - but I only used co-op when I really came up against something brutal I couldn't do alone. But this one seems way less forgiving. From level 6 onwards.
