Just purchased and the bugs are piled on thick!

Isn't this game nearly a year old now?

I just purchased this in the current steam sale of Ubisoft titles and wow, what a nightmare it's been!

I was very hopeful for something great after playing through the opening sequence and clearing the starting island. It all went well and I was getting excited for a new dive into a Farcry game.

However it was all a bit downhill from here. I went on my way to go save Boomer and after clearing the farm and busting the cage open the dog just stood there and I couldn't do anything.

A google later and I fast travelled to the farm I was already at, killed some more jerks and then the quest commenced properly.

Later on I started the "Patriot Acts" mission and the dude told me to get into his car. I did so and he just wandered around aimlessly and nothing actually happened. After a few minutes of getting in and out of the car, trying to make something happen I gave up and decided to come back later.

Eventually I got a quest marker to go clear a tower but I assume there was some conversation I was meant to have in the car that lead me to that which I missed entirely.

So off I went, cleared the tower. He showed up and radioed some dude and I had to go chase a chopper on a Quad-bike. I had great fun racing after the thing, eventually the Chopper picked someone up and the chase continued but I messed up and ended up flipping the Bike and failing. No biggie, try again.

But now I'm parked up on the hill behind the house the guy gets picked up from and he just wont come out of the house. I sit there waiting and he does nothing. If I sit there long enough I fail the mission and everything resets again but still, he wont move.

One time after the fail there it spawned me with an enemy Chopper over my head which promptly gunned me down. Another time I actually went down to the Chopper the guy was supposed to get in to and THERE'S NO PILOT! THE RESET SPAWNED EVERYTHING IT NEEDED EXCEPT FOR THE PILOT! I guess that's why it's stuck!

So I guess I'll have to exit the game and reload it to get out of the loop of failing and resetting.

But so far I've got a few hours of gameplay in and I've had to alt-tab 4-5 times in the middle of the game for some random bug.

    2 missions not loading properly.
I'm getting random shadow flickering which there doesn't seem to be a good fix for other then running in a borderless window but I've noticed a drop in my FPS when I run that way.
Also I'm noticing that some random encounters that occur will randomly vanish if you turn your back on them for a few seconds. One time I was trying to sneak up on one via some drainpipes running under the road and when I came out the other side everything was gone!

Really not impressed, such silly bugs to be dealing with for a year old game. I'm finding roaming around to be fun and I really want to be immersed and enjoying the pretty scenery but I keep having the illusion shattered having to alt-tab to google things or by needing to restart the game entirely.

I will give it a few more hours I suppose but at this point I think I will be after a refund. You would think after this many Farcry games that follow the same basic formula they would have simple things like this straightened out

Or is it just me? Should I push past the rocky start, will it get better? I've loved Farcry since the first game (as different a beast as that was), I really just want it to work :/

If you've only just bought it and you feel the need to write a lengthy post complaining about it (quite some time after most other people stopped caring) then I'm gonna go ahead and say "It's not for you".

I'm still playing it after a year, with more than 1000 hours in just the main campaign mode alone, and I'm loving it as much now as ever. Sure it's flawed. But it's not as bad as you seem to be implying. So if you're not enjoying it just stop playing. there isn't much point complaining here because A) It's an unsupported game, and B) hardly anyone posts here any more anyway.

Maybe if you stick with it you'll learn that the fun can outweigh the flaws (especially in co-op play, which is where the real magic is at). But it's your call.

However, if you're basically just posting because you feel some kind of need to point out it's flaws, then sorry friend, but that bandwagon left the station a long time ago.
