The solution is indeed with attaching the animating object (OPE) either as a dummy object or an invisible object, then connecting via a Physics Joint to the object you want the bike to come in contact with. The physics joint could be a lot of different ones with different thresholds for bounciness, joint strength, etc. Currently just using point to point with a preset set to "hard".
