Needs a HARDCORE difficulty....
I’m actually enjoying this game, the environments are surprisingly good, and it’s well paced, and the games structure and features tie together better and overall the gameplay seem more thought out.
The AI is still like FC5 — which bizarrely means the worst in the series... Can’t quite work that one out. They really are quite brain dead.
But I still crave a more hardcore experience.
- No regenerating health
- Less supplies, ammo found in the world.
- tougher enemies.
- weaker player health.
It is a tad harder than FC5, which is better than nothing...
But would love a more hardcore experience with this game!
Gun customisation and skinning animals would be good to have back as well...
Honestly when Ubisoft streamline their games they end up messing them up. Old far cry games had enough option that the player could tailor the experience to their liking, especially the difficulty.
Technically there is, they just call it Hard-A$$ instead. You could also try playing with no HUD, upgrades, or companions if that's not enough.Originally Posted by LaMOi Go to original post
I plan to do one more play through that way, but quite frankly the battle against the Twins on Hard-A$$ even with HUD, upgrades, and Elite weapons was pretty challenging.

I’m playing on HARD. Don’t want to play without the Guns for Hire as I was gagging for a squad based shooter and theres really nothing else. And I really like the Guns for Hire feature. One of the reasons I bought this and FC5...
But it’s like my main problem with FC5, the entire game was too easy, but the scripted set piece sections were insanely difficult and really demonstrated nothing more than poor balancing. Sounds the same in New Dawn from what you're describing.
It's a shame because if the game were significantly challenging enough I think Guns for Hire would become a far more meaningful, useful and importantly satisfying mechanic.
What’s also annoying is like I said FC used to have inbuilt system that enabled the player to tweak the difficulty of the game. Don’t upgrade any health bars, health buffs etc. If you want greater challenge. Turn off all the HUD like you’ve said.
The regenerating health is far too aggressive. And I just hate that specific mechanic in games. Halo OK, because it’s science fiction. You’re a super soldier, its space armour, its part of the fiction. But health regen does not suit a lot of other games, including FC. FC has in some sense always been about ‘survival’.
For me, this is the easiest Far Cry by a long way. I haven't rushed to do the story. I leveled everything up first. They have improved on some things. It's easier and faster to skin animals and pick the plants. They made climbing mountains easier. No tedious towers (I'm guessing those will be back). They made leveling less of a grindfest. I liked the expeditions, also. I hope they concentrate more on character development and a bigger variety of side quests compared to all of the previous games, in FC 6.
Hardcore is closely related to artificial intelligence of enemies. AI development is a global challenge. Even in the millitary sphere - who owns AI will own the world. In our society - AI will make unnecessary many occupations and will greately increase labour productivity. It means people will work not 8 hours like today...but 2-3 hours 3 times a week...may be less. People will have more free time for self-development. Work will be mostly creative. AI development will change society. There are also fears related to AI.... "Terminator". As for Far Cry today - all that needs to be done - is to teach enemies to hide behind covers. They must have some sense of self-preservation. Not to run towards us like sheeps to the slaughter.
I never upgrade health perks anyway. Especially not in FC5 and ND because you’re practically Wolverine anyway.Originally Posted by crunc01 Go to original post
But I had considered keeping 1st Tier weapons...
As long as by Hard you mean Hard-A$$, no.Originally Posted by LaMOi Go to original post
It's called that to fit with the Twins verbiage.
