Merciless supposed to be a assault rifle?

So i got the merciless Rilfe from a mission today it this a joke?
Guerrilla Warfare: Pulling trigger fires primer rounds and releasing the trigger fires a detonator round
    Stacks 5 times

Binary Trigger: When you release the trigger it fires a extra shot

So its a rifle you press the trigger once than have to LET GO and fire again making a stack more of 1-2 impossible. So this gun makes no sense am i the only one to notice this error ?

Shoot the detonator somewhere else. Simple.

Exactly as posted above. Shoot the primer and purposely miss the detonator. Stack it to 5. Detonate at 5 and enjoy the 1million+ damage.

I like how everyone says miss a bullet on purpose instead of having a gun that works properly you shouldn't have to "miss a bullet" it should work as intended

If hitting both shots in a row, it allows for typical rifle damage output. However missing a shot, accidentally or intentionally, allows greater damage buildup for when the 2nd shot is hit.

If there's a big guy you gotta take down, it might even be advantageous to toss every other shot in order to get that bigger payoff in the end. Or you can use it as a fairly competent rifle on its own! It took me some getting used to be ended up be extremely effective.

    Hope this helps.

The tooltip for the perk tells you “stacks to 5”. How else are you going to get 5 stacks without purposely missing the detonator round? So yes, it is working at intended. It’s literally the mechanic of the weapon if you want to take advantage of the full 5 stacks.

It’s well worth it for heavies. You can reach 1 million+ damage when all 5 primers explode.
