As a big solo player, and having played TD1. I read through that real quick and can attest that this is good stuff. I'm in WT3 now and have spent most of it soloing. The only time I really get killed is when the enemy gets a lucky hit on me or actually gets a good tactical win on me. Otherwise, i usually run an assault rifle with a marksman rifle. At the start of the game, I Ran the Assault turret and the fixer drone as well until i found a replacement for the fixer drone. there is a talent for the knee-pads called "patience" I think, it has the turtle shell icon, that will repair 3% armor for every second in cover. that with the revive hive ball. with an offensive item have served me spectacularly while running by myself. I almost never have issues.Originally Posted by tcarlisle2012 Go to original post
All skills that have been unlocked are available to the player and can be swapped out at leisure. I've found all of the skills useful in different scenarios and really don't see the point have having all of these skills if someone is just going to demand that everyone only uses turrets and hive or other combos. I use whatever skill sets get the jobe done. There'd only be two skills if I followed the logic that all skills shouldn't be useable all of the time, and Massive would have also only implemented two skills to start with. Variety is the spice of life and all that jazz.
Thanks for all the positive comments folks. Really was expecting to find this thread got trolled. I put serious time into this and am just trying to help others love the game too. I am in a good position to help those feeling overwhelmed by this game because it was not long ago that I was hitting my head against the monitor out of frustration. Also, since I recently bing played TD1 all the way up to WT5, I think I can compare the two games and difficulty, and how the player feels challenged (or not) in the end game. I have to say, I think the devs hit it right on the nose.
I know the community is really wanting more end game content, but I am sure that will come soon. That really is what makes The Division series great, is that completing the main story and 75% of the side missions is not a completed game by any means. I actually feel that playing up to level 30 and the main missions really are just training, and the real game begins at level 30. But I do wish there was a way to lighten the learning curve, and that is all I am trying to do with this guide.
And yes, priorities might vary based on personal play style, but this formula is pretty much how I approach the game.
I do feel it would be great to be able to equip more than two skills. If that were possible I'd spend the skill points and dozens of shd points I've accumulated. LOL.
I think that may be one way to put the solo player at a better advantage, to let them equip just one more skill would really help people. But then some would say it is too easy.... but they could simply chose to not use that. I actually strive to get through missions without over using the turret and drone.
If I might, You may wanna switch out that fixer drone for a chem launcher healer. Its cooldown is VERY short, has three rounds (and later on with the right mods and gear, 5) and can heal very fast, especially 2. Very rarely will you use an armor kit instead of the chem launcher.
Interesting approach.. and I didn't do anything like what you suggested LOL. That is not saying that your advice is bad, just goes to show that there is, in this game, more than one way to skin the cat.
I would say, ultimately, that you need to find the style that you LIKE and that works--and that style may vary with the types of mobs involved (hyena v. outcast v true sons v BT. I have had to make adjustments to my style for the BT, the others are usually not really a problem.
You forgot to include the dangers of taking on Alert level 3 and 4 Enemy control points solo.
I strongly suggest that players only take on these solo if they are confident enough to fight against large amount of elites and champions that can easily one shot you but if they want a easy time on these then just join a Map exploration Enemy control point team in world tier 4 to do these. Alert level 3 and 4 is more designed for group play rather than solo play.
Thing is bots KNOWS where you are if they have seen you and they wanna search for you, so go there, show up to them and go back, take position and wait. Takes about an hour to do one mission, but in most cases they all come to you without that fine flanking or rushing (good tactics, with no irony). I was very unsure could i handle my strongholds for first time. But all that went well, except one room in Capitol, where Sons were sitting in next room and didn`t wanted to come out.
Happy to say that since writing this, I've progressed to WT4 completely solo. I've made some small additions -- for example, I added that the guy shooting the glue is a priority. I hadn''t seen too many of those at the stage of the game I was at the time of writing, but they get to be quite common in the end game. But I really do play by these core strategic concepts and it works out well.
I'm a solo player , i use stinger hive and flame turret, my complaints revolve around shotguns falling to **** on challenge difficulty or higher. Everything else is manageableOriginally Posted by eckLub Go to original post
