New Game Type/ Wait Times
Something I find enjoyable is slaying the little midget pikemen in breach and dominion, and I was wondering why you guys didn’t make something fully dedicated to that.
My idea is simply this: Create a gameplay, something like a Skirmish in an open field of wheat or something, maps don’t matter as long as they’re open. Make 3 “Zones” like the push and fall zone on dominion where those who dominate the center of the map moves the zone forward, the tug of war zone but have a left, center, and right flank, and essentially have it as a moving dominion, where killing soldiers gives you points, and killing heroes gives you points. The thing that will make this work is that if one flank is overun, their back is to another flank, so it’s easier to turn over and equal out that other flank, whether the players can do so while holding their flank as well is entirely dependant on if they react fast enough or not. It would be best to make the point count a decent bit more than dominion to win though, as killing soldiers is a really quick way to break the enemy team.
When the enemy team is broken, simply have them fall back like they would in dominion and hold at the very very back, a “Last stand” if you will. This gives the broken team a minute chance to regroup by breaking the other enemy team.
That is my suggestion. Otherwise, for the wait time, I usually play in the mornings, but no one is on and I sit there for 15 minutes before the game times out my match making, and then I restart it. The other game types would become much more played if, after a 5-10 minute wait time, or even that 15 minutes, the game just says “Screw it”, and throws you into a hosted match where players can join anytime, much like how it is now. It wouldn’t drag the system down because it’s only 1 or 2 matches per game type if even, so why not?
