To unlock the Donkey you need 15,000 gold. Starting from a new character you will need to complete the following

1. University of Trials 1-6 (6)
2. All Beginner Tracks (2)
3. All Easy Tracks and Stadiums (36)
4. Bali Blast and Highland Fling Medium Tracks and Stadiums (21)
5. Approx. 88 Contracts

If you get mostly gold medals you should be around level 50 and have approx. 15,000 gold

I see what you've done there. You present a wall of information with facts and figures, which I assume is correct, to support your final sentence of, "Or you can just buy it with acorns", to imply that the game design is built around getting players to spend real money to unlock things like the Donkey.

Here is what I did to unlock it, and it's much simpler than your method. I played the game normally, then when I had 15K gold I unlocked it. It's that easy. Btw, if you're going to make a post filled with data like that, you shouldn't conveniently omit obvious easy sources of gold. It looks disingenuous to do so. You "forgot" that selling the dupes from every level-up lootbox is quite lucrative, and by level 50 you'd have made a huge dent in the 15K cost just from those. You also "forgot" the free gold bolts you can claim from Uplay.

Currently, I have 31K gold bolts, I've spent another 30K on the Helium and Donkey, and about 25K on various poses, and I have 225 blue acorns. Just from playing the game. I haven't spent a cent. I'd have more if not for the game stopping giving level-up lootboxes since the level 80's or 90's.

That's not what I meant at all. This post is for people who want to start a donkey only account and what that entails. That wall of information was just my notes I use to calculate exp. gain. I just copied and pasted what I had that was relevant. Plus I find that information interesting and thought other would as well.

I failed to mention that all my calculations are done offline and don't include any loot boxes, To be clear, this post is not meant to be a guide for people looking for how to unlock the donkey. I wanted to show some numbers behind leveling your character to level 50 as well as the difference between tracks and contracts for exp. gain. This seemed like an interesting way to do that.

In that case, apologies for my tone earlier. All too often, anti-MTX is the motivation for complaints, and to be fair that was a glaring oversight to not consider the selling of lootbox dupes, which by level 50 might be 5K or more gold, just guessing.

Don't worry about it, I took no offense. It is easy to assume the post was negative with all the negativity in the forums right now. I really didn't mean to sound like I was complaining at all. I kinda regret the acorn comment and the end tho, it was a little condescending.
Ya I can't believe I forgot about the loot boxes. I have 126 unopened gear crates, lol.
