Since arriving in these GRW forums, I have seen a number of bans that were supposedly related to the ban rule derived from exceeding five posts in ten minutes, or something like that. I'm still not clear on what it exactly is. All I know is that while the rule is in place acting as a gatekeeper for the community against spammers, it is also an aggravation to those who get banned falsely, let alone to those who begin wondering what happened to those posters and to their posts and/or threads. It is also an aggravation for the Ubisoft mod to have to cycle through things to figure out what happened. The five-posts-in-ten-minutes ban rule as it currently functions kind of reminds me of Allopathic medicine in which, to solve a problem, they feed us prescriptions to cure one thing while destroying other things, but let's not go there and just use this as an example to get an idea of what I'm trying to convey here.
Currently, the forums have something in place where if you post two posts quickly, it prompts you to wait at least up to sixty seconds before posting again. The result: No harm. No foul. The existence of this prompt makes it obvious to us that the system is monitoring us in some way via timestamps or whatever else. It's doing it for quick posts, and it's doing it for the five-posts-in-ten-minutes situation. The problem is that in the latter, there is no warning, only instant punishment. The result: Massive harm. Massive foul!
My [SUGGESTION]: Set up a five-posts-in-ten-minutes ban warning like that as well. Once a poster attempts to post that fifth post in under ten minutes, have the system send a pop up saying something similar to the other one: "WARNING: You are attempting to post five posts in less than ten minutes! Please wait X seconds (or X minutes) before posting again." Remember, if you (Ubisoft) put up a flag like that, we MUST wait the allotted time before posting again, hence, no need to ban. You are then in complete control of the problem, and we (the community) become sheltered from false bans, because we have no choice but to wait, and cannot, as a result, exceed the five-posts-in-ten-minutes rule. Make sense?
This will reduce false bans to zero, but will hopefully continue to do the job of thwarting the actual spammers in the way it was meant to do. The new result: No harm. No foul.
Alternate [SUGGESTION]: In addition to the first suggestion, increase the amount of posts to something between six and ten.
Mongol Horde out .. but not banned
p.s. As a reference and inspiration for this [SUGGESTION], you can read thread :

p.s.s. I don't normally ask this, but considering that being banned is not fun, please don't flood this thread with your posting and banning experiences. That's not what this thread is about. Thanks in advance.
