@Vort1gon: Oh, man. Way of the Machine. That track almost pushed me over the edge! You're right about taking a break though. I went back to Hitman today.
Sorry if I sound like I'm whining, but I'm a very objective person and RedLynx need to know how fans feel. I'm certainly no casual Trials player.
I agree entirely about the tracks. They're amazing and lots for players of all abilities.I like that they've added diamond medals so that those who think platinum are easy have a real challenge. From my perspective, if I ever get a platinum then it was more down to chance than skill. The bottom line is that I don't have good reflexes and my dexterity is limited, so I've always been a safe and steady player who gets the job done.Originally Posted by Scruffy McGuffy Go to original post
In Fusion, including the DLC, through utter hard work I got 2250/2750 gamerscore: 82% completion ratio, earning 44 out of the 51 achievements, and putting in hundreds of hours of play time. I did it on Xbox 360 first, then bought it again on Xbox One; the 360 never tracked play time, but the Xbox One has 115 hours.
Currently I have 340/1000 gamerscore in Rising with 19/36 achievements with 51 hours of play time.
These are the achievements I've currently not unlocked, but suspect I will be able to unlock, taking my gamerscore to 420/1000:
Squirrel Man (60)
Find 30 Squirrel collectibles
Diamond Squirrel (10)
Find the Diamond Squirrel collectible
Mr. Frosty (10)
Finish the Frozen Fjord track as the snowman with 0 faults
However, I am almost certain I'll never unlock the ones below.
I am unable to beat a single stadium final: speed causes me to make mistakes. So I won't unlock them all, won't beat the grand final, and definitely will not get 1st place in the three stages.
I'll never zero fault an Extreme track, which means I won't get the 0 fault and one fault at the end achievement.
I won't get gold in every Extreme, so I won't unlock the ninja tracks.
I can't do wheelies; I can't even get bronze on the skill game where you have to do a wheelie, so 100m or balancing on the porta-loo is not going to happen. Consequently I won't get gold in every skill game.
Platinum medals are just about out of my league, so diamond is not going to happen.
As a result of those limitations, I'm not going to unlock all of the sponsors.
I'm really hacked off about the Masters Degree because I worked so hard to get A+ in the first nine lessons, then they added a ridiculous time trial at the end that has no place there other than to create a nice 5x2 grid.
That is a total of 580 gamerscore out of my league.

@Euler There are probably some of those you can get:
Two is Better than One (30)
Beat the Stonehenge track on the Tandem bike with 0 faults
Maybe you have someone who can help? It's viable solo with 2 controllers. That said, I tried it solo like that and couldn't get more than half way. From what you're saying about your skill level, that's probably out.
No Contest (30)
Win a Stadium Final without ever losing the 1st position during the races
+
Star of the Stadiums (30)
Beat all the Stadium Finals
The upcoming bug fix about ghosts might help a lot here. It's worth it too because you unlock another (hard) Hard track.
Oh no, too Shiny! (60)
Get your first Diamond medal on a track
That's not very hard at all on the skill game Power Up, I think it's called. The one where you have a certain total amount of power to burn. Coast where possible. Very doable.
Unicycle! (30)
Perform a 100 meter wheelie in any career track
The track Wingman I think, is ideal for this. The one where you end on the runway. Maybe the Rhino is best. Go to the finish line then back up all the way to the hangar (this makes the ramp disappear). Then you have a flat surface more than 100m.
Wheelferno! (10)
Perform a 10 Second wheelie on the top of the portable toilet in the Inferno V track
If you can get that far (with the Mantis), it's actually quite easy. You can tip over softly and park the bike in an inverted position in the middle of the toilet. The fender and the wheel keep it balanced. You may need to tap right now and again but you can hold it indefinitely. Check YouTube or TA.
Trials Ninja (60)
Beat any Ninja track (Secret)
I'm 30 seconds away from my last Gold (Inferno of course). Are you certain that's beyond you? The Corky track is the easiest. I'd say Baikonur is the second hardest, and Inferno by far the hardest. Anyway, if you can get the Golds then people tell me the first ninja track is arguably easier than Inferno.
Thanks for all the helpful tips there, Scruffy McGuffy. I really appreciate it.
Sadly I'm not sure if the stadium ghost fix is going to help. From what I understand it's to do with when you replay the first three tracks in each stadium and you get placed against WR ghosts making it impossible to qualify and ever improve your PB (if you don't qualify it doesn't save your time). Fortunately for me I got gold on every one of the first three stages in the stadiums first time round. However, I'm referring to the fourth event where you need to do three stages consecutively and without restarting. I'm usually getting left in the starting blocks by Top Canine. I have managed to get 1st place in the first stage a few times, but I usually mess-up on the second one, and as I mentioned, with the stadium finals you need to go all the way back to stage one. I've never once on any of them got past a second stage. They're just too fast for me - gold times don't get close to beating them - plus I'm incapable of stringing together three perfect runs. Alas! We're not all made of the same stuff. I know the limits of my dexterity and hundreds of hours of playing Trials has taught me what I can do and what I can't do. It's the same sad story with the Extreme tracks. On the previous games my time is not usually that bad, but I fault all the time and in Rising that's +5 seconds each time. After 5 minutes of faulting constantly through most of the obstacles my in-game time is at 30+ minutes, putting me out of contention even for a bronze medal in most cases.
You might be right about the Power Up skill game. I'd forgotten about that one and I think I got platinum on my first (and only) try. And here's to hoping that in the patch fix they slow down the top riders to give players like me a chance in the stadium finals. It'd also be helpful if we could restart each stage. I know I'll just lose my bottle if I ever got to the third stage and fault in the simplest of places.
Hi there Euler13,
Thanks for sharing your feedback with us, we really do appreciate it! Some of the challenges in Rising can definitely be tough and take a lot of practice to finally achieve and master. Keep at it and let us know what you think!
I have just been practicing for fun and slowly finding myself improve more and more. It's really true that in Rising practice makes perfect!
@Euler
I doubt they'd relax the requirements to do all 3 Stadium Final races in a row, since for one thing your total time dictates your medal at the end, but maybe the ghosts will get easier. More practice might help too. I think I saw in the patch notes they're adding replays to the leaderboards for those, which might help. I think it was someone else in another topic here talking about the Schoolyard Stadium Final, and I tried it again and had a thoroughly mediocre run including 1 fault and still got an easy Gold and 1st place, so maybe the issue is the ghosts. Of course the faster the ghosts are, the more pressure you might be putting yourself under, with that contributing to mistakes.
It sounds like the Extremes may be past you, unfortunately. Yaaay for me though, I finally got the Gold on Inferno. I've been playing that over and over last few days getting closer and closer. Finally got it. I'd have runs where I breezed through typical blocks then made a complete hash of other obstacles that previously I'd be coasting through with a few faults at most, including a run earlier where I got to the final ramp and had almost a minute and still choked, lol.
And then there is insanity like this Diamond run on Inferno... on keyboard. They even take shortcuts. I'm top 3% on the leaderboards and this is waaaay waaaay beyond me. That's what's so great about Trials though!

Btw, you mentioned trying to get Marathon 20 tracks in Trials HD. Did you know they had made it easier? They changed it 4 months after launch from 24 tracks to 20, and they also tweaked the playlist to remove the 6 Hard rated tracks, bringing in a couple of Mediums I presume to replace them. I didn't bother trying. I don't remember if I could zero fault each track individually, I'm sure I could, but to do all of them consecutively? No thanks.

@Scruffy
Grats on the Inferno gold :-)
That big jump to backwheel bounce at checkpoint 3 kills my chances every-time, just can't get it right everything else isn't too bad.
All I'll say is thank god for the Helium otherwise Inferno 5 would be beyond me on the Mantis; I'm just too heavy-handed for really fine even with the vibration off. I definitely think it's easier than Inferno 4 though, I remember watching one of FatShady's videos for it and even he said, he had to be told by the dev's how to do one bit,
@ Euler, speaking to a few of my mates early who bought Rising and out of the 8 that got it 5 have given up before they've got the Mantis. That isn't down to difficulty though, they physically haven't got the time needed to grind.
When I played Fusion the ExtremeTracks got on my nerves and I still haven't got gold on one of them. But, I'd suggest starting with Klondike Goldrush or Hong Kong Harbour on the Helium and stick to one at a time, Jumping between courses and bikes can really throw you off as the timing is different. FatShady's youtube tutorials come are a god send as well, there's stuff in there that really should've been included in the main game, imo.
I'd leave Baiknour Base well alone.. I hate that track with a passion.
@Vort1gon, Firebase sounds right, thanks.
Re Hong Kong, I found a couple of spots tough there, though I was using the Mantis if that matters. And on Inferno, I tried with the Mantis to get that Wheelie Achievement (easy trick as I said earlier), and I was curious how much harder the final checkpoint is, but it turns out I couldn't make it to the first big wheel from that portable toilet, lol. I often have difficulty getting from the first to second wheel with the Helium, but couldn't make the first wheel with Mantis.
You mentioned CP 3 on Inferno. That too is usually my toughest. Watching the FatShady and Maka YT guides didn't help either. I'm getting more consistent at it though. I would full gas from the CP, lean forward for distance and to avoid flipping, let go of gas, then tap lean back to put the rider back onto the middle of the bike, try to hit the middle of the ramp at about 70 or 75 degrees from horizontal, and hit gas and forward at the landing. Did you beat it yet?
My first play on Baikonur was with the Donkey for the contract. I didn't realize it was an Extreme when I clicked on it. Bloody hell. I ran out of time around CP 14 I think.
