I only have 2 issues with solo play. The first, rushers COULD be toned down a bit. Perhaps if there's only 1 player, the AI is more apt to take cover more often or for longer periods and not flank or pinscher so quickly. A minor change that would give solo players a bit more of a chance without getting swarmed from both sides as frequently.
My only other complaint is enemies spawning behind you in "wave" style encounters. It was standard fare in TD1, which wasn't too bad as we were a lot tougher. With the reduced time to die (which I don't dislike), enemies spawning from your exposed side (not moving there so you can see and adapt in time if paying attention) is a virtual death sentence, especially solo. Thankfully, it doesn't happen as often as in TD1, but that just makes it catch you even more off-guard when it does.
Play smart and you can get to be as awesome as the rest of us :P (it's a joke relax), currently at 453gs and i have for the vast majority of this played solo, did some of the strongholds invaded ones in a group just to make it easier on my self, however i can also solo them with the revive hive and i am running the survivalist atm with the seeker healing gadget, the grenade launcher guys have weak-spot on their main gun or their ammo storage on their side or back, you can destroy that and he switches to secondary weapon you can use grenades flame turret corrosive chem launcher to semi cc targets and once you get specialization you can get incendiary and or flash-bang depending on the specialist you choose.
People need to get over this idea of sitting in one spot or trying to face tank something and think more tactical, rushers all of them seem to have weak points you can shoot, with the exception of the heavy melee that one you have to avoid his swing and get a bit of distance and he gets winded after he does the swing, so you can shoot him when that happens or put down a turret and that can get his attention and give you some more distance go for his arms or legs rather then the head since that is heavily armored.
While I agree with some of the OPs issues, I don't think the game is IMPOSSIBLE to play solo, playing in World Tier 1 now I'm able to retake all my checkpoints back solo, the side missions are manageable, but the invaded missions are a bit too much for me. Regarding the enemy NPCs, my complaints are that they are WAY too accurate and they deal WAY too much damage over distance (especially the shotguns).
Rushers are super squishy. And two out of three have your CC basically built into them. The Hyena rushers have a bag at the hip that disorients them and everyone around them and the Outcast ones have their weak point center mass and blow up if you hit it (even elite ones blow up instantly).Originally Posted by chrcoluk Go to original post
And all the rushers in this game pale in comparison to the LMB shotgunners in TD1.
Haven´t seen the TUSK ones yet, but I doubt they´ll change my mind.
True enemies in the open world, spawning very close is annoying and I´m not defending it, but even that you can deal with most of the time.
