I don't think the game is too hard. It needs some adjustments sure, but the reason I pre-ordered it was because I am a huge fan of how Massive and Ubisoft worked on the first Division to improve it. Maybe not everything gets perfect, but perfect is different to everyone.
Regarding the difficulty, I have soloed the whole way up to WT 4 and I did it not using healing skills (mostly the hive and chem launcher - side note, try using that corrosive on the robots) all the way up till about 3/4 the way through the survivalist specialization (cause I wanted to play around with the healing seeker).
Everyone has been saying how this is a tactical shooter, but you also need to recognize it is an RPG. If you are under leveled and trying to run through the game and dying constantly, then maybe your getting what is intended for this type of playing. Take your time and enjoy the game, you will easily be able to play through most of the game and rarely use an armor plate.
Just make it fair. Get rid of the auto-detection the enemy seems to have no matter how far away you are or well hidden.Originally Posted by Ubi-RealDude Go to original post
The enemy should have to play by the same rules as we do, so they should in no way be able to be as accurate and as damaging with a shotgun from absolutely unrealistic distances if I can't.
If I can't see them due to foliage, wreckage, walls, etc., then they shouldn't be able to see me enough to hit me, especially thru walls.
Keep the damage, keep the flanking tactics, they're fine...just get rid of the psychic detection and magically perfect aim powers that even street-level punks like the Hyenas seem to have.
So. I'm gonna put this out there. I'm a WT2 Solo Player. When Soloing you very much need to know your advantages and Disadvantages. Most importantly The Disadvantages.
Tip 1 - Your Minimap is your Best friend - I watch my minimap like a hawk. Its the best way of Telling if they are trying to Flank, When I do die its because I forgot to check it a few too many times. Watch the red, Read their movements, and Adjust Appropriately.
Tip 2 - Distance is your friend - I get it, We all want to play the action hero that charges in with a shotgun or a SMG and Slaughters the world. But this isn't CoD. We aren't the Walking Apocalypse. If you want a Accurate Representation, We are pretty much a yellow mob wandering around Solo messing everyone up. If a yellow mob walked into a killzone surrounded by red mobs, he'd get managed too. But If you keep back far enough, you can see troop movement, and if you cant, it gives you time to check your minimap to see if they are starting to move in your direction. In Close range firefights, This isn't a option, When try start trying to flank you either need to turn and shoot or back off abit.
Tip 3 - Use and Know your Cover - This is how I get around the Pinpoint accuracy Grenade as..... Jerks... Lets go with Jerks. Chest High walls give a good range of where you can shoot from, but are usually Bad against Grenades. Using Taller and Thicker cover usually has the grenade bounce harmlessly on the opposing side to it.
P.S. I do agree that the Grenades can get frustrating and I do agree with some work being done on these, The Heavies that lob 4-6 Grenades at you are the prime candidates here. And the Outcasts Molotov can kiss my.... Yeah.
Tip 4 - Know the Gear Rolls - This one is the most important. Take the time, Watch some youtubers or Exparement and figure it out yourself, You are doing this game solo, meaning you have to know the ins and outs good enough to know what you gear can do, and what it cant do. Think of your gear as a Hand of Cards, and play it right.
Tip 5 - Don't be afraid to Retreat - Running away and Skirmishing is going to be necessary. Sometimes you get in over your head and gotta step back, Don't Disengage though unless you absolutely need to. Backing off half a block or so forces the enemies to chase you. This allows you to setup Skill combos to clear out groups of them.
Tip 6 - Skill Combos - Learn how your skills make the enemy react, If you get good at this you can clear out entire groups without firing a shot. Know how a Heavy will react to a turret, When they come in for the stomp Plaster them with another skill. Or Setup the sniper turret, then use the Cluster Seeker to force them out of cover. Pop the guy once with the Turret, Let the seeker do the rest.
That's all I can think of for now. This game isn't Call of Duty. Out thinking your opponents is the way to win.
rushers definitely need a nerf, easily the most problematic enemy I have, if they not managed to be killed before reaching me they are a major pain in the butt. They actually got buffed from the beta which is shocking enough, in the beta they ran to your face and kept hacking at you, in this they run to your back, and then move between each hit making it more chaotic to aim. If they come from a distance usually I kill them as priority, but when they spawn close to you its a big big problem.
I think there is an assumption that people who find parts of the game too much, are been stupid, not using skills, charging in etc.Originally Posted by TrueJynxed Go to original post
Tip 2 isnt valid all the time e.g. the game does specific things to "force" you out of cover, grenades is one example, due to their accuracy, unless you behind a tall wall, you will wan tto move when one is fired, else they force you to stand, and can take huge chunks of armour/hp from you. Rushers if they get to you, cover wont do anything against them. Likewise if you getting flanked, your cover doesnt mean anything.
Tip 3 has some sense, but there is no perfect cover for everything, and many enemy mobs have a bit of everything, grenaders, rushers , gun men all mixed in together e.g.
Tip 5 is important.
Tip 6 as well, although I feel with only 2 skill slots we way too restricted on skills, needs bumping to 4 imo. 30 or so skills in the game and only 2 equipped at any one time.
Enemy grenaders like the rushers are ridiculous, and elites get crazy broken, throwing grenades with almost no animation time, 5-6 in a row. Also every grenader seems to have unlimited grenades as well, some firing from huge range with a launcher, its op'd a lot.
Some people saying "get good" as a fix, its not.
Lv 27 here solo player. I say teh enemies are fine i enjoy being kept on my toes.
my advice for those struggling
1) keep your gear up to date - self explanatory
2) listen to audio and visual cues and switch your priorities on the fly
the grenadiers will all shout when they are going to start lobbing nades at you as well as having a circle fill up with a grenade icon. immediately aim for the grenadiers and shoot them, you don't have to kill them most of the time (unless they are elites or bosses) since they will drop their grenade at their feet and die
outcast and hyena rushers have giant weakpoints if you need to shoot them otherwise they shouldn't be problem if you prioritize these first.
a sniper should never hit you unless you keep your head poking out for more than 5 seconds if you tunnel vision on other enemies and don't go back into cover.
3) if there is no specialists (rushers, naders, etc.) to prioritize, always go for the flankers
something I absolutely love about the enemy AI this time around is that they love to flank you and keep you off-balanced. However this also means they spend a good amount of time out of cover, kill them whenever you have a chance.
4) don't be afraid to hug the side of a cover you were on if you are being flanked
what i mean by this say you are taking cover on the south side of a box, don't be afraid to hug it and move to the east or west side of the box, the enemy AI will sometimes get tripped with how to flank you from the new angle you are in.
4b) don't be afraid to fall back
there will be times where there is just a lot of cover and you won't be able to kill all your flankers, fall back or try to push around a flank yourself.
4c) when initiating an attack, don't start the fight from the first piece of cover in front of you, try to move up a few pieces of cover first
this goes back to the need of falling back, if you had already prematurely advanced, then you already have areas to fall back to, this is especially helpful against outcast naders whose molotov leave cover useless for several seconds.
5) ditch the snipers and shotguns, they might be satisfying to use but unless you are killing the enemy incredibly fast, these are just too slow to use when playing solo
.Personally I have the best success with a LMG or assault rifle for medium to long range and an smg for short range. LMG in particular if you are proficient enough you can kill 3-7 enemies (depending on the size of the belt/mag and your skill) which means less enemies to deal with at any immediate time
6) against tanks (especially the outcast versions with the sledgehammers) do not be afraid to either run away and kill them when their friends are nearby or if there are few enemies, begin running and gunnning them before focusing the tank.
6b) if you absolutely must focus a tank in the middle of a firefight, be hyper aware of your surroundings
its not the best thing to do but its entirely manageable to be running away out of cover from a tank while avoiding getting shot. keep in mind of where your shooters are and put tall cover (trucks, shipping crates, walls, etc.) between yourself and the enemy with guns. then just kite the tank back and forth until they die. try to get some practice doing this in the open spaces since minor spoilers -- you will face similar enemies in enclosed spaces
additional note
before skills were fixed with the new patch, the chem launcher's firestarter is one of your best friends
need to quickly clear out a priority enemy but they wont' poke their head out of cover? shoot the firestarter gas in their cover then shoot, if the flames don't kill them you shooting at them as they burn will
enemy gunner keeping you suppressed? let them light themselves on fire with the firestarter
this was my #1 friend prior to them fixing the drones from despawning.
as of yesterday with the patch fixing that however, another good skill to use as a solo player is the turret since you can cover one of your flanks with the assault drone while you focus on another side
I think some of you are missing the point. There is a large portion of players, like myself, who just don't have the time to play more than a few hours a week. We have families, jobs, lives. To that end ... hours and hours of trying tactics and gearing up just isn't feasible. Buy we pay for the game like everyone else, so in that instance, it wouldn't hurt for those concerns to be listened too. Maybe some sort of difficulty adjustment system for people with less time on their hands is warranted.
For the record, I am a very old school gamer. I'll play through like a stubborn mule until I get to the end regardless of the difficulty. But some of you shouldn't be so quick to dismiss players who are making genuine suggestions on how to improve their playing experience.
- Rushers are too useless. They don't have a lot HP and can be killed too fast. Even if rusher reach you he is so slow that need 2 seconds to make a punch. Fully armored rashers with hammer are so slow that can't even make a hit on you if you just roll away.
- Healing system are AWESOME. It is much better then first Division. Players need to restore armor only when it reach red zone. There is no reason to restore armor each time when you lost a few sections. Well, that is only you don't play like a crab.
- It is ridiculous to observe how a person is unable to properly use such well-thought-out and balanced skills. All skills work fine and very useful in solo play and in group.
- Grenade launcher bosses are accurate and that mean you don't need to stay in one cover like idiot and get shot in your face. That is not how this game should be played. This is not a shooting range and you need to constantly move around the battlefield.
- There is no need to improve combat system since everything work fine like that.
- Solo gameplay is a lot of fan. This is the best looter shooter for all time. Playing solo on normal difficult in operations. For sure on higher difficult you need to play in group or you can lost all your ammo
- Massive Entertainment please don't listen to those "clients" who are crying about how difficult this game is. Better take a look on reddit posts where TONS of people ask you to not change difficult, because it is AWESOME like it is right now!

I can agree with this ONLY on the foliage.Originally Posted by secretzrus Go to original post
As for walls, crashes, etc. I have had no issues with this. I would duck behind a long wall, move along the wall, and the enemy is still shooting at where I WAS, not the new position that I moved to. So as far as that is concerned, no, they do not see you through walls. Again, foliage IS an issue, walls are NOT an issue.
