Hey everyone. I appreciate the mixed feedback here, and I'll be making a note of it to pass along.

To those struggling, especially as solo players, I can only recommend what has worked for me; peruse the open world for higher xp and additional loot, keep your gear up to date and your brand sets synced up with your chosen loadout, and try different approaches/tactics/skills if things don't work out. I especially like using one or even two (if needed) healing skills so that I only ever have to use armor kits when things get dire.

As a follow up to those players taking issue with the difficulty, parts of the game do you feel are the hardest? What changes do you feel could be made that aren't just tweaking the numbers like from the private beta to the open beta?

    Re: Realdude

As I stated in one my earlier replies Realdude.. I think the issue is more in the mechanics than the difficulty. Though it wouldn't hurt to take a look at the difficulty

Enemy shotgunners should not be shooting at me, when I have them at SVD range. They should be moving up for that. The fact that an enemy can shoot at me through terrain where I can't seem them is a problem too

This is not DOTA 2. I should not be stun locked or otherwise. I should get a fair chance to defend myself

As for what you said.. You speak of grinding the open world for loot. I feel that is a wrong way of doing it. Most other MMO's I have played, you get leveled equipment for rewards. The gear boxes you all have, are always randomed. That does not help most of the time

I didn't think of it prior but, I made a huge post about what could be done to change the weapons. Perhaps it could be an alternative fix to the difficulty. When I posted those suggestions, I was looking more for fluid progression, and to encourage players to try new load outs

You can find my huge post here if you wish to take a look

I can 100% say for certain that this is the right way to go for soloing in the PvE environment as it requires you to think more tactically against the AI because they are ruthless, to say the least. I am only lvl 24 and I'm running solo. It's night and day when it comes to tackling the bosses in the world. One thing I do know is that you need to distance yourself and always scan the area to see where you can post up to mount an attack against them. Sometimes you need to plan a retreat route and continue to knock off the enemy attack until you face the boss directly.

Not only that but make sure you are properly equipped before doing anything like Ubi-RealDude mentioned. This game is a lot more tactical compared to Tom Clancy's The Division 1. AI is a lot smarter and more tactically sound. Don't sit or pin yourself in a corner or you will die. Be unpredictable in everything you do because if not, it's lights out for you. Anyways I hope this helps.

I agree with you that some enemies might need some small percentage of damage taken away from them. But other than that, i think it's all fine the way it is.

I can give you a few pointers of what has worked flawlessly for me atleast (while lvling and NOT endgame, since i'm not there yet)

First, get the M249 Para (the lmg that has a mag with 100 ammo in it) and mod it with stability and optimal range. Trust me, you wont be disappointed. You can just aim, hold that button down and see your enemies hp disappear insanely fast. The only issue here is the reload time on it, but that's why you have a second weapon incase they start charging you while you're reloading. Get a automatic rifle or sub-machine gun with a high magazine count. Either the Police m4 or famas will do just fine, and mod either of them with range/stability.

The enemies WILL flank you if you stay in the same spot for too long, and that's something you really want to avoid at any cost. Try to move around a little more and get to a higher ground if possible. The snipers/shotgunners are your top priority. They can be ruthless if left alone.

If you see a red object and enemies are close behind cover, SHOOT it. In fact, shoot everything that is colored red if the enemy is close enough. It's a good chance that it'll trigger an explosion or a fire

If you can avoid being detected at the start, you can always start the encounters with a grenade to their faces. If thrown correctly under their feet, the enemies will stop dead in their tracks and get hit with the grenade, killing them instantly.

I use the restorer hive and the crusader shield as skills. They work wonderfully together.

Ignore all the brand sets and aim for the highest armor count, since you'll be replacing all the gear really fast because of the fast lvling speed in this game.

This might be because of a weird scaling issue while lvling and not in the endgame, but i feel like almost all the weapons in the game are really bad. They either have really horrible damage on them and/or low clip size. Which forces me to reload 1-2 times before an enemy is finished off.
Take the rifles (not the full-automatic ones) for example. Really good clip size, bad they deal horrible damage.
The snipers are good, but i feel like i need to hit the head to deal any damage to the targets. But with the insane ammount of times the npc takes cover and with their speed, i feel like it's really, really difficult to hit their heads most of the times.
The Smgs are okay i guess, but has a low magazine size. Sometimes forces me to reload about 1-2 times before the target is dead.
I can just avoid all that and use the M249 and finish multiple enemies off with the SAME clip and i don't really need to hit the head in order to kill them fast, and i can shoot them with good accuracy at a long range too. Godlike weapon!

I just truly do not understand people. I've been enjoying the hell out of this game and loving the tactical challenges it presents, yet people are complaining that it's TOO hard on the forums? It boggles the mind. I hate to be that guy, but GET GOOD, this game is really not even that hard. I've solo'd my way from 12 to 25 and it has by no means been impossible--not even close. I've only died 4 or 5 times that I remember, and all of those times have been because I got too cocky and decided to run straight at some enemy, not realizing that he wasn't the only one left or that he had more health than I could reasonably melt.

If you're getting killed by shotgunners while you're using an SVD, I really don't know what to tell you other than maybe not try to use a sniper rifle in close quarters? Switch to your sidearm when you're getting rushed? This game really isn't as hard as people are making it out to be; I think too many gamers are used to being able to come to the forums and whine until the developers tweak things to their liking, rather than just learning how to play the game. There are some issues with this game, mostly surrounding how skills don't seem to deploy properly all the time, but the difficulty is not one of them. I was actually disappointed that there wasn't a way to turn up the difficulty, and I've found myself not fast traveling anywhere anymore just so that I don't blast through the main story too quickly.

I've asked this in other threads on this forum and I will ask it again here; please Ubisoft, do not make the enemies easier just because a bunch of people would rather complain than learn how to play the game. I know that sounds condescending and elitist, but at some point a line has to be drawn. The Division 1 was MASSACRED by the devs trying to cater to every single individual complaint and unfounded claims of "bullet sponginess" (read: "i can't tell when an enemy is too high of a level for me to take on, and don't know how to aim for weak points."). I do NOT want Div 2 to turn into the same boring, easy, repetitive situation. At the very least bring back the world tiers so that we don't have to watch this game go down the tubes just because some players want to be able to blast through everything like rambo

Seriously, I don't understand all these threads complaining about the game being too hard. Has anyone even played borderlands 2 on OP8? I don't think that was much different than this game in terms of difficulty. The #1 rule of this game is... if you're not in cover, you're probably dead. So USE IT properly. You see enemies flanking you? Kill them ASAP. If you're struggling with the number of enemies, use a flame turret. Get some CC abilities + Healing. Use your grenades, etc.... I actually feel like the game's easier solo for some stuff than in a group. Enemies die way faster when I'm soloing compared to when I'm in a group due to the scaling. It takes a lot more shots to down an enemy in group play. The only thing I've had trouble with is a level 4 control point, level 3 was difficult enough(took me many tries). I breezed through the content and didn't even start dying until level 20 or so.

    Ubi-RealDude,

It isn't one specific problem that makes the game too hard - it's multiple factors that add up.

Enemies now deal more damage - this is fine. This is challenging and means enemies pose a real threat now. You must think before you act.

Enemies now spawn more often - this is not fine. Whilst waves of enemies are good, the fact they spawn 20m behind you in an area you just cleared, thus giving 4 enemies an automatic flank on you is a massive problem. This, combined with the enemies dealing more damage, is a killer. In group play, fine. In solo, you're now boned. This even happens in story mode - you just cleared a room! Don't worry, the door to your right flings open and 5 more dudes appear. Shotgun to the face before you can move - you're now dead.

Enemies have an infinite grenade and RC spam - this is not fine. We have to play smart. The AI has some great flanking thoughts and stuff and that's awesome. But the dude who robbed a toy store has a narnia sized box of RC cars. As soon as one is destroyed, the next is away. Grenades are thrown about like skittles. Why are enemies like this not limited to 3-4 of each bit of equipment?

Stop the grenade spam. Stop the constant spawning of groups of enemies, especially behind you, and maybe tone down the Elites. It's fine and well saying "don't make it too easy", but the game absolutely needs to be accessible to less hardcore gamers. The hardcore can turn up the diffuculty and still enjoy it. The less hardcore cannot turn it down.

People, I keep seeing stuff about the game difficulty, and I have to say, I completely disagree, and I'd need your insight on this.

I have started last night, and, if the free roam is fine, I have litterally played through the first mission (Gd Wash. hotel) with a pistol only, and it took 30 seconds to kill the boss on the rooftop with the very same 1911. It has completely killed my mood to play the game, I need a challenge, not a walk in the park. And I would have started in "normal" difficulty right away if the devs would have let me. No, instead I had to play something for the casual not enjoying a single ounce of challenge. Great.

Which is weird, because the free roam difficulty is at the moment higher than what i had in the first mission in "story".

Question: is it getting better later on ? Or will I have to spoil myself each mission in "story" before being able to have a bit of a challenge in normal and hard ?

DEVS: COULD YOU PLEASE UNLOCK THE "NORMAL" DIFFICULTY RIGHT AWAY ?

At the moment, I'm not playing this game anymore, which is sad.

Thanks in advance for your answers.

    where to start.

Rushers, are way to over powered still, being one hit is beyond ignorant on the game designers end.

..use crowd control. That flame turret you say just sits there? ACTIVATE IT by pressing the corresponding skill button...

Healing system is ridiculous. as soon as you need one armour plate, your are either having to spam them all because every time you get a new plate in you need a new one. or if you go down and that cactus looking drone thing picks you back up, you can't get away to replace the plate. I am yet to be successful in going down and being able to get back up and survive. its always a wipe. THIS IS NOT A SOLO GAME

..fall back. Early on it does feel way tougher to survive. Use 2 heal skills.

Skills are ridiculous. nothing works except for the healing ones, the fire turret just sits there scrolling back and forth watching enemies walk right past it, the drone just follows you around like puppy until you tell it to attack someone, even then it still wont attack anything.
The booger gun is supposed to melt armour, as far as I can tell all it does is makes the enemies armour a bit cleaner. not exactly the outcome im looking for.

..some skills you have to manually activate / target. Gone are the days of having no thought about dropping a skill. You have to target strategically.

Grenade launcher bosses are way to accurate still, you get hit once by the time you have recovered and take a shot, you need to move again. THIS IS NOT A SOLO GAME

..they don’t spam like that. You can hear the shot and see it...move. If it’s hitting you too fast then you’re too close.

This game needs improvements on the combat system, all these issues were brought up in the betas but nothing was fixed. As someone who paid 80 bucks for this game I would like my 80 dollars worth of game and so far its 29.99 at most.

You clearly haven’t played enough to make it past your frustrations. It’s your 80 bucks and then some. It’s not perfect by any means (lag, crashes, skills bugging out) but it’s a game worth every penny.

Cool concepts and ideas, but poorly delivered. Solo gameplay is not fun at all as the mobs are just ridiculous at times. the named bosses, the 52 I believe they are being called, are way over powered and they drop loot lower than my character. useless. THIS IS NOT A SOLO GAME

I wrote 3 lengthy reviews on the betas offering suggestions, feedback, everything I could to help you at massive fix some of these issues, so did many other people and you just ignored the issues.

It really annoys me how you can't even focus on building your character until you reach tier 4 and even then there isn't any point in making your ideal build as you will have to start all over again when tier 5 comes out.

Very very disappointed is the first 20 hours of gameplay.

START LISTENING TO YOUR CLIENTS MASSIVE> WE BUY YOUR STUFF. I am not the only one who has brought these concerns up.
