By this, do you mean buy nemean lion?Originally Posted by imit8me Go to original post
I've made my case and people can take or leave that but if people want to continue making me out to be a baby I can also start making the case Odyssey is pay to win by definition. Because if Crit is the only way of playng, Nemeon Lion is the ultimate set. And it did come out just a short time, IIRC, after the changes to damage. Hmmmm...
Eitherway, serves me right for seeing if the forum lightened up I guess. Looks like nobody's gonna treat the idea even close to seriously, dunno what I expected.
He's not wrong you know...Originally Posted by darkspawn2101 Go to original post
I can’t take the topic seriously because it’s such a weird thing to moan about, building for crit is always a viable way of dishing out a ton of damage in any game.Originally Posted by darkspawn2101 Go to original post
It’s far from the only way of playing either, I didn’t bother with any crit for the first hundred hours of the game as I simply couldn’t be bothered with looking through my pieces seeing what had the right stats on. Primarily I focussed on being a tank, when that eventually became a chore in ttk I changed to a fire build, that was brilliant fun just setting everyone on fire and watching them burn to death.
After two hundred hours I eventually started to farm for some crit pieces, it took three hours one afternoon to get a perfectly rolled set of Hunter crit pieces, getting all the perfect rolls on Warrior bits took far longer, two weeks and thirty hours I’d guess. Nemean Lion is the only set I’ve bought, I wish I hadn’t bothered as my epic set is far stronger and I don’t use the set engrave anymore as I prefer a tier 10 poison engrave now.
Yeah, if you didn't know anything about gaming and you read this topic, you could think that Odyssey is the first game ever where crit-based builds are among the best.
And yeah, by the time you reach higher tiers of engravings, you don't really the Nemean Lion set engraving, as without being useless, it's suboptimal (but then again, like on lower levels, you don't have to have the absolute best gear, any decent armor with somewhat good bonuses is more than enough, as long as you're not trying to play as a fire-based Warrior while having poison-based Hunter gear.) Only thing I'd recommand is the weapon, the damage at full health is really sweet.
@ darkspawn2101:
Okay, I won't quote your reply to my comment, as it is too long, but here are a few things to note.
First, as I said before, most of the sentences in your comment start with "I want" or "I like" or something similar. As I said before, it is good to share what you want to see in the game, but you also need to justify how that affects the entire gameplay mechanics. And that means accounting for people with different types of playstyles. If you can go in more depth on how what "you want" is better than what we already have in the game, please do share, because it is difficult to understand how what you are proposing helps anyone but you.
You mentioned something about people getting adapted to the current mechanics and thus it being their fault for not recognizing the issues. Again, try to reconsider if it is actually the fault of people who have adapted to the gameplay, or is it the fault of people who can't adapt to the current gameplay mechanics?
Again you mention, you would rather have something which is linear, and has no RPG elements. I think that again is just a fancy way of saying that the game should have what you want and only what you want and not something that caters for multiple playstyles.
Also, I see alot of people saying "this is single player game and hence should not have any balancing"... The balancing is not there for PvP. The balancing is there so that people who want to play differently aren't forced to play the game only in a certain way.
As for going back to the old formula of making everything linear, you do know how that formula got so repetitive that people lost interest in the game.
In regards to spending more time on story and content, I am totally with you on that. And I always say that efforts should be directed at making content which is available for all players rather than adding specific options for a smaller subset of player base. But if you look at some of the other games from Ubisoft, you will see that crit chance and crit damage isn't something that was adding from scratch in the game. It has been available for quiet a while, for atleast 3-4 years now in games like Division etc.
Overall, I am happy that you are sharing your ideas, and that is what the forums are for. I am sure you have thought about everything in your mind, and I am sure your idea, to you seems like a better option. But it would be great if you actually provide some evidence or examples on how what you are proposing provides an improvement over the current system, rather than just saying that this is what you think is better, or works better for you.
No making a build with only 1 damage type isn't actually helpful. What would truly be helpful is to either fix the game for once or give us the option to cap off combat at 50 so it stops breaking.Originally Posted by UbiCosmos Go to original post
Sorry about being rude I just pointed out it was broken the first time the level cap was raised. Then pointed out again that the level cap shouldn't be raised anymore because it's broken. Now we are here and it's still broken. I am just frustrated that every game these days has to always be broken all the time.
