Again, it's not as simple as giving a token for character recustomization because the game code does not have existing features to adjust an existing character. We're waiting on them to program it from the ground up.
In meantime, perhaps they're hoping we spend money on the Apparel Event to get another mask to hide these hideous characters.
This is a big deal despite some posters considering minor.
The character creation component is already in place so it's hardly what I would call something requiring "ground up" development. They just need to make that component an option.Originally Posted by Lutonio Go to original post
What do you think the barber feature is all about? That taps directly into the character creation tool already. Just provide the full range of options to change facial features, skin color, etc. They wouldn't even need to create a new interface as it's already there. Just have people use the barber after the fact.
The update given by the team today on Reddit says differently. If you haven't seen it, it says they're working on developing the feature, but it will not be coming any time soon.Originally Posted by Kean_1 Go to original post
I think the barber changes the accent furniture of the house--hair, tattoos, some color. It doesn't change the foundations, structure, or floor plan--the skeleton and facial dimensions, stuff like that. If they could tap in to the existing character creator for use with existing characters, I think they would have done it by now for an easy fix.
They mentioned that they weren't going to have that option anytime soon, not that it would be too difficult or require a "ground up" build. The fact is that the components are in place and even some of the mechanisms to do it. Integrating them and creating the interface for a post/creation option is another thing but even then, the barber feature could help with that. As for not implementing it sooner, I doubt this is something high on their list of priorities right now. No one is suggesting it's just a light switch they can turn on.Originally Posted by Lutonio Go to original post
After the vaguely related stuff posted today about expanding the barber but nothing directly addressing this issue... I've decided to just suck it up and fully rank up my alt. Its painful to throw away 200+ hrs on my main, but i want to paly this game for a long time with a face i actually created.
Bottom Line is with the raid coming out next week and a myriad of other more widespread/ easier to fix issues i'm guessing we're not getting anything fixed for quite awhile, if ever.
The bug has not actually been fixed. While they did say they fixed it in the patch notes the other day people are still reporting their appearance changing even after that patch, making a new character or using your alt character still has the chance to be affected and randomly changed by this bug.Originally Posted by DEACON__ Go to original post
I agree it will probably be a long time before this is fixed, if it ever actually is.
Not sure why this isn't just a easy fix. You can argue that it's not game breaking but it is. I honestly will stop playing if I can't play as the character I created. I'm sick and tired of looking at this hobo looking character they changed me too. It is important facet of a game for me where I create "my character". If you create a main character for me like Nathan Drake or Samus, then I'm fine playing as them. If you give me a blank slate and expect me to be happy playing as a no name hobo default face 0 character then you are sadly mistaken. No other game even Anthem has this specific problem, and it shouldn't be a problem. Character creation has been around for decades. Why can't Ubisoft get a very simple aspect of game creation right? I can accept my character getting stuck in a random spot. It's difficult to map out every inch of a map perfectly. But character creation there is absolutely no excuse for getting that wrong.
