The For honor twitter recently posted a batch of changes coming along side the live update tomorrow. I have a feeling people will be happy about most of these changes:
Black prior:
~Light finisher damage decreased from 20 to 17.
~Heavy finisher damage decreased from 40 to 35.
~"Jawbreaker's" recovery is being increased from 300ms to 500ms.
~Leaving full block stance is now 400ms up from 200ms.
Jiang Jun:
~Top heavy finisher damage decreased from 45 to 38.
~Side heavy finisher damage decreased from 40 to 35.
~Light finisher damage decreased from 20 to 18.
~Zone attack damage decreased from 28 to 25.
Warlord:
~Buffed the damage for the light after headbutt. From 12 to 15.
It's also worth noting that Black prior's stance related bugs are being fixed with season 10 when the fix to static guard comes.
Thoughts?
BP's nerfs seem to hit where they have been asked for. The assumption is Jawbreaker is referring to his bash from dodge and in combo. But the recovery numbers are wrong. As the bash recovery for both is 600ms. Not 300ms. And leaving BW stance is currently a 100ms action. Not 200ms. If we combine these changes with the removal of instant superior block (for heros who have it) BP is going to become a lot more punishable in regards to neutral play. Though both his mix ups regarding his bash will still be reads for punishing. They will just be more consistent allowing the rest of the roster a chance to actually punish instead of just Raider, warden/shinobi, and shaman.
JJ nerfs to his damage. I bet people are crying tears of joy. I'm indifferent on it. WL buff is nice but he still needs more help. Overall i'm impressed. If only they could actually show this level of precision changes more frequently and consistently.
They might. But it's not in the log so we will have to see.Originally Posted by Baggin_ Go to original post
Dodge into zone still protects his dodge into bash. So it's still a read punish.
AFAIK even dodging on orange still gets you hit by the zone.
My initial thoughts are:
1) It took them this long just to tweak some numbers... *sigh*
2) They're handing out hard nerfs to BP and JJ without any attempt to make either of their kits more versatile.
JJ is a very crappy experience to play as in a 1v1, there is nothing he can do that can pose a threat to a competent opponent. And Black Prior is still just a shield bash platform with a novelty Bullwark gimmick thrown in. His playstyle has no depth to it. As soon as you learn how to apply pressure via shield bash that's pretty much what you'll be doing as a BP from Rep 3 to Rep 70.
There's no attempts by the devs here to make JJ's shin kick be actually viable as apposed to a dead piece of kit in 1v1. In 4v4s it would make little to no difference to the kick's viability if it were to be improved as an opener so why not do it? And likewise there's no attempt to re-adjust some of Prior's power away from his bashes and put it into a chase tool so that he can be a more interesting hero to fight and play as.
Tweaking damage numbers is basic stuff that they honestly should have done within the first 2-3 weeks of that particular hero's release/rework. Nice that they finally got around to doing it but there is nothing here to be impressed with. Not until they actually rebalance JJ and BP's kits so that they're both more well rounded.
This is how knowlege of the game looks like!!!! Ubisoft please take notes. Especially the last part About tweaking damage numbersOriginally Posted by Vakris_One Go to original post
It is intended, not a bug.Originally Posted by Sweaty_Sock Go to original post
People pointed JJ is to overpowered for a season and a half, and Ubi don't care.
But somehow we have ok Prior and bunch of crybabies, and Ubi already nerf him hard. What the point? Why don't wait for win matrix for this season to actually see Prior rates? Huh, so stupid decision. I think he will become another Gladiator or HL, no chance to see them on high level...
