That's indeed the answer. Midas is not carrying his weapon.
When have the AI stowed their weapons in the game? I can't recall it happening, thus it caught my attention. That this is in FG might be relevant, or not. So far it hasn't repeated.

Cripes! I'd be happy if they'd independently throw frags or flash bangs when appropriate! Oooooorrrrrr------instead of counseling me I'm being shot at, fragged, fried by a gunship etc, they'd actually take a positive step towards neutralizing the threat instead of just yapping about it (like they were Operators , or something).
