Shinobi's character design is terrible and doesn't belong in For Honor. For Honor is supposed to be a melee fighting game. It's absurd that there would be a character whose entire play style revolves around staying far away, while the rest of the cast is close combat. I know his slide tackle is being nerfed, but it's still a stupid move for this style of combat. His ranged GB is broken in 4 vs 4 game modes where you can't see it coming. His kick is way too safe. He is so low on HP that it just forces the ranged play style in a game that's supposed to be melee. He completely controls the pace of any fight, which usually comes down to one of the players getting so bored that they start playing a more aggressive and less optimal play style. His sprint speed is ludicrous, again, because this is supposed to be a melee game. Shinobi has been considered S Tier throughout most of the time he has been in the game. He has tweaked many times, but he has either been way too low on HP, which just causes him to be played more defensively (and boring), or he has been too strong. All of his problems are because his entire move set just doesn't belong in a game like For Honor. I think Shinobi needs a full rework once the remaining characters have been reworked, and his rework needs to be huge, as I think he pretty much needs an entirely different move set. At this point, I would be happy to see him completely removed from the game; that's how much I feel like he just isn't a good fit. Even his weapons, which I guess are miniature scythes tied to chains around his wrists, are bad. I mean, that's not even a weapon and it doesn't make any sense.
No more ridiculas than half the things they have implemented - a melee game riddled with instant kill drop points over objectives, cliffs, instakill feats etc etc....
GIve up on finding any sort of theme or cohesion, this game is designed by committee and nothing makes sense in an overall perspective (or ever will)
Thank you Meanpie13, that's exactly what I'm explaining to any shinobi I meet in the game. I try to show them why it is EXTREMLY selfhish to pick shinobi, because at its core, this char doesn't belong to this game and it's only reliable playstyle consist in trolling others. We really need the dev to tackle this issue which has been going on for WAY too long. Any post abour who is the most hated char to play against, shinobi is first.
Could we have a Ubisoft team member replying to this thread and tell us what the devs are thinking on this issue ?
What I don't understand is that is ABSOLUTLY obvious when you look at the game design of this game, what are stopping them from doing a full rework of this char ?
While Shinobi does need a rework and the weapons are kinda dumb, Only is nobi strong in 4v4. duel with or against them the range thing you are complaining about doesnt come into play. No shinobi ever throws at higher reps in duels unless they know with at least 98% certainty that they are going to hit, or else they are on the ground and then dead. Even from full hp. The only thing they have going for them is the fast light speed and the dodge. And I play shinobi I've never had my kick have hyper armor, go complain about goki, highlander and zerker first on that. But thanks for the tip ima go GB throw everything in 4v4 now.
Since shinobi appeared in the game I thought that it was completely different to all the other chars, and I have to say that I find him fun to play from time to time because his speed and the fact that he attacks from the distance....but I have to agree at least in some degree with the Meanpie13 and his complains.
IMO the long distance attacks should be removed and replaced with melee attacks (something that I believe could be really cool if it is done well...c’mon! He is a MF Ninja!).
Chain attacks could be assigned to his feats...in that way he would be able to use them but not so often.
