I looted a dead body - hit F to pick up the item and then F again to send it to my inventory and my character spun around and I got the inventory screen (this has happened before.) This time however, after I hit escape to go back to the game so I could loot that item; the character didn't move (continuing to look as if looking at gear) and no UI - the only way out was to ALT-F4 …

I can try - but it's very random. It happened again tonight while finishing up the expedition: looted a body; got the inventory screen instead of looting the item - hit escape and that was all she wrote.
