Pretty much confirmed that Uplay and an Ubisoft account are going to be required to access Division 2 from the Epic Store. Directly from the Division 2 FAQ describing how Ubiclub rewards will be redeemed:

Clicking the "support page" link there will direct you to a special FAQ, co-penned by Ubisoft
AND Epic, addressing specific questions for those who purchased via Epic. One of them directly states the Ubiclub rewards will be available, which requires an Ubisoft account.

This was the same exact situation with Division 1 when purchased from steam. Logging into a Uplay account from a distributor partner flagged your Uplay account as having a valid copy of the title in question, and would allow you to download it from Uplay directly. This has also been the case with Farcry 5, Primal, and For Honor, all of which I owned and purchase via Steam.
Once again, proof versus speculation folks.
EDIT: Directly from Ubisoft Support. Confirmed that regardless of your distributor, you
WILL be signing in via Uplay so your account can be flagged as a legitimate owner of the game, and all your Ubiclub and beta rewards will be available. Here's your ------- imgur proof.
