    Diamond Metals

The following is a breakdown of how many diamond metals were obtained vs how many people played the track.

I put the tracks in order based on how many total diamonds each track accumulated

The diamond time on Tilting Windmills must be an error. It seems impossible to get.

Thank goodness for Powerbike or I’d never get the diamond medal achievement!

I love how hard those diamond metals are, they seem dedicated to the top riders who are consistenly able to get WRs (or top 20 times at most). Im not knockin it at all. I have a few diamonds but haven't been really pushing hard because i just want to progress through the game as fast as i can, save up some trials coins, buy some dope outfit courtesy of PuRpLE oOzi then go back and tear up the tracks for my PB's.

When i first got Rising, i thought some of those diamonds (not the impossible ones but just the really hard ones) were mind-blowing insane but theyre starting to make sense. So...im goin to call it... a year or 2 from now, the majority of the top 100 runs on each individual tracks SHOULD have diamonds at that point. Getting Gold on all career tracks (for the majority of the fanbase) was a good call achievement-wise, but those diamonds man... theyre just like one of those crazy hard timesavers on a few Evo tracks that only maybe 5 people could pull off (think the big jump on Titan Graveyard). I just LOVE how after 2+ years, only an handful have pulled it off.

So regardless of whether i could get all diamonds on every track, im definitely not knockin the move. Would love to see where we stand in terms of how many people have diamonds overall between now (mostly top 5 runs on any given tracks) and 2 years from now when most of top 100 runs would have it by then. I would love to know how Redlynx came up with those times, considering everybody in the office is a decent rider at best but not a WR setting type of speedrunner (JJtheGerman is the only one i can think of that can beast a track so maybe hes the one setting the high standards of what would warrant a diamond medal, but i honestly dk.

I think once you are of a certain level (think a top 50-100 rider on an already competitive Trials HD/Evo board) you can probably predict what a diamond time could be after about an hour of track time, even you personally don't hit that time or all of the correct timesavers in one run. I'm at the stage now where I'm rerunning tracks to get high platinums/some diamonds and for the most part I'd say the cut offs seem to be pretty accurate. Not sure if it's because I prefer the flowing tracks but the Rhino tracks tend to be easier to hit diamonds (noticing more scores around the 305k+ mark on these tracks). Obviously this can vary though when some ridiculous timesavers are found that maybe the creators didn't anticipate. I know before the scoring system worked the same for tracks but there wasn't a diamond medal in existence (300k score for the "par" time) and tracks like Sewage Plant from Trials Evo blew this out of the water.

Also, that Titan Graveyard timesaver was the bane of my life...

It's interesting. Im at a point where most diamond metals seem just out of reach. Ive gotten a small handful of them, around 7 or 8. I love that the challenge is so steep on em.

On the other hand, platinum seems easier and less meaningful than before. I got most of my platinum medals within 2 or 3 attempts. There should be zero instances where I finish an extreme with a fault or 2 and then recieve platinum, yet it happened to me a few times. Of course I will go back and zero fault them, or already have.

Not sure where I'm going with this, guess im not yet good enough for most diamond medals (yet...), but platinum may be a bit too easy this game.

Thanks Jhop, this is super interesting. I found the Bali Duel surprisingly easy to Diamond, interested to know which other ones I might be able to get.

I don't mind the diamond medals either. They give you something to push for and are a really, really tough challenge for me even on tracks that are well suited for me. But we're only 10 days in and I have faith I will hone my skills further in the coming months so I can get diamonds on tracks that suit me. Some will always be out of reach, and I don't mind that.

The problem is that the other medals are quite meaningless to have. Bronze and silver are surely just about the same and no dedicated player will ever stop here. Gold is a small step above. Then a bit of a surge up to platinum, but platinum still basically only means you're competent. And then the next step up is unreal sicko - diamond. I mean sure, we have the leaderboards already to gauge skill, but it would be nice if the other medals apart from diamond meant something too.

In my opinion, the diamond medals are at a good level of difficulty, genuinely something to strive for the hardcore player, but I'd say gold and platinum are just a bit too easy. The skill gap between platinum and diamond I feel is far too big, which would be solved with slight boosts to the difficulty of gold and platinum medals.

I feel compelled to weigh in. I’m in the same skill group as a lot of you, I’ve been playing for a long time, and a gold medal is almost always effortless, and platinum can often be pretty easy. However, I think they are taking the proper approach here with medals.

Bronze and silver SHOULD be useless to skilled players. New and sloppy players need those medals. It’s their way of gauging their progress and motivating them to improve. If you’re good enough to get platinums, you should be plenty motivated already.

Bottom line, you’ve reached the mountain top. Bronze and silver is there to accommodate the broad spectrum of players who play, not just us rockstars.
