Minion executions were a terrible game mechanic. People hate change thats all. Hard to fundamentally do any change after a full release.
At this point if these were in the game and i would see someone use these to clear rather than their other - better options, i would report them for griefing/afk.
Impactful attacks are nice and all but not if they stand in the way of gameplay.

And if the executions were there, you could simply switch to guard mode if you don't like them. It's that simple.
The animations speed can always be sped up. Then again, some people including me like to enjoy every detail in the game. Bring minion animations back but have them cost STEEL to unlock. This way people who don't want them, don't have to buy them (and have an option to toggle them on/off before a match) I believe the reason they took them out based on Freeze's video is MONEY.

Implement prices for each animation chain. That means:
1) Light, Light, Light (3000 Steel)
2) Heavy, Heavy, Heavy (3000 steel)
3) Light, Heavy, Heavy (3000 steel)

5) Light, Light, Heavy (3000 steel)
6) Heavy, Light, Light (3000 steel)
7) Heavy, Light, Heavy (3000 Steel)

9) Buy all animation chains at once (20,000 Steel)

I figured the main issue with the slow clear of minion animations might have been that you always target the minion closest to you with the maximum range of your attack. And of course the way minions clump around you, and I have not yet found all rules they do or don't to this by, plays an important role in clearing as well.
But placing minion kill animations back in the game for light attacks, at about the speed that the hero's actual light attacks have, should be in order. You could kill around 2 to 3 minions with an animation back then, and that is still the maximum now.
The heavy attacks that are used for clearing should remain without animation to grant the faster clear they currently have.
