I've played for at least 17 hours betewen the story mode, dark zone and the dm modes this weekend, i liked the experience overall and i'd like to put some points to my review/feedback.
- The overall enemy NPC behavior feels more decent and more competent than the first game, armored, engineer and melee units flanking you at different sides, plus snipers and gunners using different spots is nice, since these units can prone shoot now, this can make things interesting for combat.
- The overall weapon stats rework is awesome, longer time to reload a MG, 5.56 automatic rifles with lower damage but with weaker recoil, 7.62 automatic rifles having a stong recoil but a decent damage output, semi-auto rifles with decent damage and fair recoil, bolt-action rifles still nice, but i felt the SMGs not too diferent as comparable with 5.56 assault rifles, considering DPS and RPM, some are even more suitable in combat than some assault rifles.
The overall rework of abilities and tech trees are fair enough considering progression and character build.
The settement thing .... felt as the same time special, but somewat annoying, i'd liked ... about the concept, but i didn't liked about how its progression works, it feels like "i give and make everything". than a overall "fair trade" of services/peoples either for combat or specialists.
- I still feel the friendlies NPC still weaker, the point of the game still the multi-player experience, but the are some point than we need to use some NPC to hold our ground, they are easily flanked, they can't make a real difference in combat and they die easily.
- The msssions were intense, some secundaries felt more difficult than some main missions, i liked those.
- The dark zone ... having a standard cap and balance to level is nice, now the higher tier equipments can make a difference ...and at the same time a player in any situation can stand their ground with a lower tier equipment against a more experient player, this can make ground to more player to player interaction to find equipments and roam around in a dark zone, but ... as far as a player can act around, this can be a reason to roam around and find players to make problems as rogues.
I liked the DM and Domination modes, but it would be nice a more extreme variation of these modes, like a hardcore mode.
The bigger problem in this beta was the random audio issues ... i can't say how annoying this was, it ruined my experience in some poits, in some points because of the enemy engagement and rushers around.
I had less issues with servers connections than my overall experience on the first game.
Some textures bugs, but nothing which affected my gameplay.
I hope the development team can work behind and make this game really great, something that the first game took time to be.
I found that to be realistic.Originally Posted by PaRADoxM0NstR0 Go to original post
Consider that the friendlies are random public volunteer militia who have bare minimal training and little experience vs. Your character who is an experienced better-trained veteran expert.
I learned to use their mediocrity to my advantage, similar to an adult helping out a children's ball game, or an older sibling assisting younger siblings.
I'd rather have them there, than to be alone.
Example, if I see a villain gang lurking where I want to go, but also notice a friendly militia patrol approaching my current location from the opposite direction, I will navigate to a point where I am in between the villains and the militia, and initiate combat. As soon as the villains return fire and begin to surround/flank me, the friendly militia patrol hears/notices the incoming fire and they run up to join me as helpers. I allow them to distract the villains while I use my weapons/skills to do the most devastation, but once the villains are weakened (barely any health remaining), I let the friendly NPCs finish/kill, so that I still get rewarded XP and loot, even though I've already shifted attention to my next priorities. Same idea applies when encountering an ongoing battle.
