I have played private beta, technical test, and Open beta all of which have been a blast with one exception. When going in to the dark zone see non rogue players show up as white and rogue players show up as red. The problem I see with the rogue toggle is that if I am a non rogue player that means I dont want to be bothered while exploring that area or bullied. However a player can decide for me that I have to fight him by toggling rogue status. Doesnt this just defeat the purpose of me being a non rogue player? I am clearly not trying to fight people if I am non rogue.... This should not even be an option... the part where I go into a pvp zone is where I accept that I am entering into a pvp world why should I have to toggle it on or off? I have ran into so many players that just abuse this part of the game by going back and forth is very dissatisfying. If this is part of the pvp world should there be a tutorial on how to do it... or did I just miss this part of the Beta.. Seems like ppl that knew about it were using it against people that didnt know about it IE new players that were just starting to play the game or new to the franchise.
if you are new to the division then you are probably not up to date on how the rouge system works. it is a huge ongoing debate for people. I think more people hate it than like it but am not to sure. I personally do not like the dark zone. I was max level in division 1 and did it without going rouge that often. there seems to be no downside to going rouge and trolling players once again only now the time to kill is almost instant and guys do it when their prey has their backs turned. its a total mess. id like it if division 2 had an option at launch where you could disable rouge, so if that was turned on you could not go rouge and could not be attacked by one. I have a feeling there would be far more people turning that option on and then maybe massive could make a decision on removing that system completely. there is conflict game mode for going pvp. play that if you want to fight other players. or keep one dark zone as the contested zone and make that available for people who want to play with no rules. but don't force others to participate in something they don't want to.
First off I just want to say that the whole point of the dz is that there are rogues so getting rid of them would make the dz meaningless.
Second I agree with you about the current rogue system being a problem.
The time to switch over to rogue should take longer in the normalize dz and have an announcement before it's complete rather then warn you after the fact.
And rogue respawn should be longer then it is after death.
What does going Rogue even do? It allows you to attack other players right? How is it being abused? I personally love the dark zone but I despise pvp and I don't understand people who play video games just to grief. Griefing has chased so many people away from Red Dead Online. I hope it doesn't become a problem in this game but one thing I know, if you give the kiddies a chance to grief, then they are going to grief. In my opinion, people who want to pvp should have to pvp against other people who want to pvp. They shouldn't be allowed to pvp against people who don't want to pvp but ehh whatever, that is a huge design flaw in the dark zone in my opinion. I would love to see a pve only dark zone with tons of powerful enemies. Going into it with a few friends trying to get good gear without worrying about griefers would be awesome.
Making it an option to not have a rogue system in the DZ would take away from the point of the DZ, if u dont want to be attacked or have the potential to be attacked by a rogue, then don't go into the DZ, there is nothing saying u need to go into the DZ, there is no benefit to being in the DZ in terms of gear drops or loot. You can acquire the same quality of gear in any of other game modes than going into the DZ. While the DZ would boast that you can get the good gear quicker, you have the calculated risk for that expedience and the consequence is dealing with rogues. Unlike the original DZ in Div1, where the best gear was in the early launch and subsequent 1.2/1.3 versions. DIV2 you have the chance to get just as good gear from a mission or open loot crate than you do in the DZ. The argument will be made that you can get it faster in the DZ, while that could be true, you are paying a risk for that.
re: JHemp12 "Griefing has chased so many people away" Red Dead Online, I haven't played RDR2 but GTA Online has a "Passive" mode available via Drop Down Menu that enables you to experience the open world w/o being ganked by trolls, and you can still accept invites to participate in heists and other co-op missions.
Not everybody was aware of this option, as sometimes in a crowded online session I'd be minding my own business, going into stores to shop for new clothes etc. and a troll would attempt to drive-by murder me, and upon failing would then camp outside in a tank or helo and repeatedly pound me w/ barrages of missiles, obsessively trying to overcome my unavailability, their noise attracting so much attention that eventually another troll in a jet flew by and vaporized them.
