    The new Night vision filter is so bad it's useless...

    Is it really supposed to be like this?


    Shadows and midtones are just washed out green.

    Yeah, I've also found it easier to see with the default NV filter, which is why I'm glad the new helmet/NVG combos use it instead of the new one. Would be great if Ubisoft could add an option to apply one's NV filter of choice all across the board.

    Yup, because I want the white phosphor one used in the Sonar Goggles.

    The third image: "new effect" - is that the result of obtaining (and using) a specific piece of equipment? I have the original even with the advanced ballistic helmet.

    The "new effect" was introduced when the Panoramic and Special NVGs were added to the game with Special Operation 1 which also included AI outfit customization (full customization was introduced later on), so as a result only those two helmets use it. The Advanced Ballistics Helmet was part of the Special Forces Pack which released during Year 1 and used the same default NV filter the game shipped with. At the time it was released, the NVGs on the ABH were static, but SO1 added the flip down functionality to them.
