I don't get this game sometimes. I enter a base camp, shoot at the alarm tower, hear your character say something like, "now they can't use the alarm to call for reinforcements". And of course, when all hell breaks loose, there go the alarms and the helicopter arrives.
Bug with the game?
Sometimes bases have multiple alarm towers.Originally Posted by ConfusedWild9 Go to original post
As mentioned there are often 2 or sometimes even 3 alarms. They can also be spaced far enough apart to not see all of them. The squad dialog can make it confusing your first play through as well, because sometimes one of them will say, "Reinforcements won't be coming in by air", when there are in fact one or more alarms still active. In Far Cry it's more clear cut, they'll even flash a message onscreen telling you how many alarms are left after disabling one.

The way I feel is since every alarm in a given base can go off if one does, then they should only script that dialog to play once you've disabled them ALL. It's one of the many little quirks in the game that never got fixed, and probably never will.Originally Posted by ConfusedWild9 Go to original post
Nomad or the AI will state that the alarm is disabled. Only when the last (or only) alarm is disabled is there the comment that any reenforcements wouldn't be arriving via air.
What's misleading to the player is if the generator gets turned-off, the alarm still shows "active" via the flashing panels as well as the displayed icon if that feature is enabled by the player.
Not true, anyone that's played the game a lot knows that sometimes they say that before all of them are disabled.Originally Posted by MikeWeeks Go to original post
This is my experience also. I find the voice cues from the AI to be very helpful in this regard.Originally Posted by MikeWeeks Go to original post

Speaking of the AI, I know this is off-topic but how many of you play "lone wolf"...ie, not using your 3 teammates at all? I started off using them, but I'm on my 2nd region of the game (Security) and I find it's more of a challenge to play w/o them. Playing on 2nd hardest difficulty. I first tried having them tag along and just getting them to "hold" on the perimeter of the base as I went in and just provide occasional sniping w/drone help, but as soon as I needed reviving, they came in and pretty much cleared out the place for me or went a long way towards doing that. No more challenge left. And I had only leveled them up twice...didn't think that would make them OP. I find the only time I get the AI to come with me is when I'm trying to stop a convoy. Feel it's really hard to do this on your own, although I'm sure there's a trick to it. Though, they inexplicably turn into wimps when you've got missions to blow open a door and then hack computer b4 time expires. Find them useless here.
It is a bit of a lonely experience to go at it alone, but more fulfilling ultimately. I can always call in Rebels if I feel overwhelmed. Although, it's irritating how they tend to "show up" and take over when I'm doing my own thing...out of the blue. And it wasn't a random thing. I was trying to steal a chopper in Security region and they kept moving in at the exact same time, without my asking for their assistance. I'm sure there's an explanation for this.
Finally, I just wanna say I'm surprised this game didn't get great reviews. I think it's a blast...interesting missions and lots of gameplay. Perhaps they could have more interesting characters, but generally, I think it's great. Also not sure why the critics faulted the car mechanics. I think they're pretty responsive.
