While I understand that not all players are on the same footing in terms of ability, this game is by far NOT impossible. I have completed everything that's available in the game as a solo player and even playing Hard mode missions with just a level eight character is completely doable.
I would challenge you guys to go back through and look at what you're doing. You can't face tank enemies the way you were able to in TD1, it's truly difficult, as they will melt you down quickly. It's a cover-based looter shooter, you have to utilize cover and pick priority targets. Every enemy has weak points, like the Hyena rushers, to temporarily disable them so you can either burn them down or reload to do so. Throughout this beta, I've been utilizing the Turret and Fixer Drone which targets enemies and allows you to select priority targets and repairs your armor respectively. They're the best tools so far for solo players because one takes attention away from you while the other repairs your kit so that you can stay in the fight. Use them.
Like I said, I completely understand that it's difficult if you're not giving the game some respect. If you don't watch your flank, they'll get behind you and destroy you. If you don't focus priority targets, they'll destroy you. If you stand out in the open rather than using the cover given to you, they'll destroy you. I play as a Sharpshooter character, my playstyle is built to sit in the back and pick things off but when the going got tough, and enemies were in my face, pull out the close range kit and get to work. There's so many tools in this game for you to use. There were often times that I would hope to hell that I made the shot or I was going to get bludgeoned but that's why you can also roll. Reposition, check flanks, kill, rinse and repeat.
They've already nerfed the game once and I honestly don't want to see it happen again simply because people aren't giving the game respect in how it plays. It's not an FPS, you can't just run out all Billy Badass and think you'll mow through mobs, use bodies as shields, dive over obstacles in slow-motion with a giant explosion in the background. It's a cover-based ARPG. Give it the respect it deserves and you'll find yourself not getting murdered as much.
