All audio becomes completely robotic sounding, voices sound like distorted Chipmunks

In the dark zone is where it has happened to me and my friend at different times., all audio I that I could still hear became robotic sounding. Even my footsteps. Sounded like if you were to run the audio through one of those cheap voice changer's on a robot preset. Along with the missing gunfire sounds, this makes the game unplayable. And when I say all voices sound robotic like that, I mean every voice. Even the incoming chopper extraction voice, entering dark zone voice over. All of it including ambient sounds.

This happens to me all the time. Ever since completing char creation and entering the game. The only audio that sounds normal are the voices in the cut scenes.

Oh so it's happened to you outside the dark zone? Me and my group seemed to get it when we were in the dark zone. Not all at the same time, just eventually one of us would get it then the other and so on. Other than the mission gun sounds and absent ambient audio, I haven't had the distorted robotic audio outside dark zone so I can't comment on the cut screen voice overs and how they sound. But my whole group have varying specs so I don't think this is down to a hardware issue at all, which is why I did not post my specs.

    Same

I have had this issue the whole open beta, didn't have it at all during the closed beta.

That's the same with me. I had the missing gun sounds and stuff during the closed beta, but not this robotic distorted sound glitch. I've only experienced it in the open beta

Yep. Happened to me in dz. I blame the servers.

Even when I left the dz the issue persisted. Had to do a hard restart on the game itself to fix it

Same issues all music and ingame voice overs where ...compresesed? or something sounding like something out of starwars, but in a bad way. Cutscenes appeared to work. Didn't have this problem during private beta. I have Razer Man O'war headphones.

Hey guys thanks a lot for the reports!

Could you get a video to show this in action, it really helps!

Otherwise, a little bit of PC troubleshooting may help!

    Change sound settings windows

For me it helped to change my windows 10 audio to: stereo (no 7.1 dolby etc) and 24bit 44100khz. Dissable all stuff like Windows Sonic. Had no problems anymore after that, hope it helps you as well. Cheers
