Going back to easy tracks to gain some xp with gold medals, and then finding opponents being much more difficult is discouraging. I'd like to be able to go back to the easy tracks to have fun and at least feel like I've made progress. Its frustrating to beat my previous silver metal times but not even come close to a metal.

I'll try to illustrate the problem.
I think it's one that a lot of people are having.
I want to play Trials.
I don't want to play skill games, I don't want to do 15 frontflips and wheelie 40 meters. I don't care about online multi-player. Thank goodness the shambles that was FMX has been removed (small mercies and that).
I just want to play trials.
Here's the problem - I have now got a gold medal in every single available track.
The absolute only way for me to make actual meaningful progress are to do these stupid, boring challenges or maybe do the boring stadium finals:
This is my map now:
and my stats - 80 out of 80 golds.
You'll see the Spanish Stadium is locked out and I have to grind out 6 more levels to get it.
If I am unable to do those Red Bull contracts that's it....end of game unless I replay tracks over and over and over and over again.
The only thing I can equate it to is if you play Sonic The Hedgehog on the Mega Drive but you were forced to get all of the Chaos Emeralds to get to the later levels.
(Thanks for the suggestion for buying the helium. I haven't purchased it yet because I didn't know I had to in order to make progress with the core game of Trials. Another dunderheaded decision. Just unlock it for us because I've missed this and I'm certain other people will as well.).
Bottom line - if you get gold in all of the 'leagues' you should be able to progress in the game.
The XP level requirements are just completely arbitray, non-sensical and essentially force you to stop playing Trials in order to play Trials.
I’d love someone at RL or ubi to come forward and explain what they were thinking with this atrocity of game design. But hey, we’re just the people who give them money for bad products so we don’t deserve an explanation.Originally Posted by les_zep1 Go to original post
I honestly do not want to be here complaining about this game. I really don't.
....and yet...the powers that be need to understand just how fundementally broken this game is. It's just insane how misjudged this is.
- I have a gold on every track.
- I've got a few platinum times on hard tracks. I haven't started to really grind for them yet though.
- I have also got an A+ on every FatShady UOT tutorial.
I'm good to go to the extremes right?
Of course I am! Any sensible game would be going...'extremes? this way...please come on in sir'.
This game is different though.
Instead of unlocking the next available difficulty which I'm clearly, demonstrably and unarguably ready for, this game instead gives me a big middle finger and slams the door shut in my face.
I'm at level 83.
Of course...some genius has set the requirement for the extremes at...oh...level 88.
What. The..
So now I have to grind out five miserable levels for absolutely no reason on Gods green earth.
The madness doesn't stop there though - To double down on the insanity, at these levels it takes a fair old chunk to get to the next level.
So how to we gain levels?
By playing Trials right?
Actually...no. Not really.
So exhibit a.)
A red bull contract. This one is a no lean challenge.
fairly easy but quite dull. Worth 5400 XP.
exhibit b.)
A platinum medal on a hard track.
Pretty bloody difficult. Much, much, much more difficult than a no lean challenge anyway.
Worth...350 XP
If I get stuck on any of the remaining challenges I have had it. This has basically happened to someone else on here and is probably happening to loads of people.
The nature of trials means the tracks themselves are barriers for the player. I'm just...stunned...that you've locked out content of the game like this when it makes absoluetly no sense.
In short...Trials Rising =
P.S. The hard tracks are among the best ever. They really are absolutely fantastic. I just wish the game wouldn't keep coming to these grim halts like this because I just want to play the game!
I agree the progression system is horrible. Redlynx essentially draw new players in with an impressive tutorial system, only to screw them over and say "uh, well actually, just forget about those tips and do flips instead".Originally Posted by les_zep1 Go to original post
But I feel like you're picking on the only balanced contracts in the game. Sure, you and I may find the RedBull challenges easy. Personally I find them to be the only contracts that are somewhat enjoyable. I don't even think I'd do the backflip challenges if they were worth 10k XP. But I think most new players would be able to earn a platinum medal a lot easier than beating a ghost without leaning and doing it in zero faults.
How am I supposed to level up? I've been played 20 hours now, completed 60 tracks, got 3 platinum and the rest gold. I've completed 97 of those tedious contracts - literally driving me flipping crazy! - and I'm only level 55. Since about level 45 it has become a complete grind. No new tracks are unlocking and I'm getting about 300-1000 XP per contract. Needing 10000 XP to level up.
Is something broken in my game?
Someone here said they'd reached level 115?! Assuming they'd got 1000 XP per contract, by my calculations they must have completed 600 contracts more than me.
I bought Trials because, like every other one since Trials HD, I want to play the tracks. I'm not interested in races or be forced to endure these tedious contracts. Why can't I play Hard or Extreme tracks yet? Am I missing something obvious?
