(And don’t really have the patience to understand them) I really enjoyed all the Assassins creeds up until syndicate, then from origins onwards I feel ubisoft have bowed to the critics and made the game far too complexed and introduced these one to one combats where there is no sneakily hiding around, surprising the opponent in order to kill them. Plus the opponent seems to be a lot more powerful than you, more so than in previous Assassins Creeds. You have just got to face them head on. Extremely annoying and frustrating.

I probably wont ever complete this game unless ubisoft introduce some cheats to kill these mythical beasts in future upgrades. And I will probably not play any future Assassins creeds either. Pity as I really enjoy puzzle solving open world games such as this especially with the historical aspect. Not many other similar games on the market. Thanks ubisoft to bowing to your critics and ruining the game with these one to one combats.
You definitely don't need every engraving, not even close to that. It's just that some can tip the balance a bit more in your favour. What they really do is shave time off each battle; you do more damage per second. I finished the game without finding many of the tablet locations at all. Every new weapon/armour that you pick up has engravings, and any engraving that you've seen on one item is "learned", and is thereafter applicable to any other item

There's a ton of sneaking around and killing still, but you can't do it against certain big enemies. Use of the buff systems helps with stealth too, allowing you to one-shot stealth kills on captain-type humans, mercenaries, etc.

Once you get into it, there really isn't a lot of thinking to do about engravings and item choice to give you a strong build for any situation. It only becomes complex when people become fascinated with finding the largest damage-per-second score they possibly can, but that's just obsessive. As long as you've understood the combat and know how to lock on/off, it will become easy. But if you refuse to engage with the systems, it will remain opaque.

Same, but we're talking to people here who find the boss battles impossible on Easy, so it is sensible to give this advice. Plus, there are other fights than Medusa where the boss attacks more aggressively where a good build will help significantly.

I had the same problem for awhile. Do this and you will beat her. First off the only ability you want to have on your Melee is Ring of Chaos (use this when you deal with the rock people and Second Wind. You want to stand behind pillars and just shoot her, of course run whenever she shoots her rings at you. When she turns you to stone just roll and you will break it. Keep shooting and every time you get low life activate Second Wind to recover. It takes a little while but you will beat her if you do what I said.

In the end it’s a game not a point and click animated story. And some games have hard bits. Odyssey is pretty straightforward as far as game difficulty goes, in fact most of it is very easy, even on normal or hard once you have your head around the system. There were only two bosses that held me up at all, Medusa and one of the optional creatures (the one that everyone complains about) and they did seem to be significantly harder than the rest of the game.

Medusa was the only boss I was tempted to ask one of the kids to do for me, and in the end it took me a couple of evenings having a go at it. Without mastery levels and complex builds-I was just using legendary suits (the poison enhancing one at that stage if I recall correctly) with obvious engraving attached (do more damage to bosses, do more poison damage, more hunter damage. At that stage I hadn’t worked out what crit damage meant!). The downside of doing it like that is that the monster is a damage sink and you aren’t, so one mistake and it’s back to square one. And without an optimized build you don’t do much damage per hit or bow shot so there’s a lot of opportunity to make a mistake. It’s just a matter of patience and getting better at dodging. And playing more does improve your abilities. It took a full playthrough of the game (about 140 hours worth getting 100 per cent) before I got reliable at parrying and Istill don’t perfect dodge most of the time.

I don’t know what the solution is- I like a game to have some challenge and expect that big bosses might take me several hours to work out a strategy and or build up skills, that’s part of the point of it being a game. I play on normal or easy, so I’m not a masochist as far as difficulty is concerned. Clearly some people would rather sail through without having to try things several times, and that’s OK too, I guess. Especially for folks who have some physical issues with combat games. Although if there isn’t any difficulty I’d probably rather watch a movie which would be more likely to have a script written by someone who knew something about character and plot development.

Which monster are you talking about? The ones that gave me the most hard time was the Water Cyclop and Medusa. I did beat them by just doing shooting arrows and Second Wind, I did that all of the 5 big bosses. Hoping Fate of Atlantis doesn't have bosses like them again.

I played through the game on Hard and besides the farting boar dont remember I had any issues going through myth creatures. Mostly whooped them on first or second try. But I did it at lv 40 or so when the game was first released so some patches could have buffed the myth creatures.

The game gives you so much cheese that you can only die by DoTs, overleveled mercs or mercs in groups. Im level 61 now going through DLC and pretty much unkillable eventho Im gimping my fight stats in favor of assassination crits.
Think I died vs fire cyclops a few times mostly cause one tick of fire takes like half of the health bar.

Use and abuse the invincibility buff when your Heal is on cooldown, dodging makes you invincible for a sec and goes into slo-mo to put some attacks in to charge up the adrenalin bar, use weapons that fill up your HP bar and engrave with DoT buffs. There's even a skill now in DLC that fills up the adrenalin bar.

I might try Medusa again to see if anything is changed, would be fun if it did.

Medusa actually took a devastating hit from the nerf bat. Her eye beam no longer does damage, and her lil ground rings barely do damage anymore (compared to what it was). I dunno if that's intentional or a bug. I was 99 on nightmare with no defensive abilities/perks except second wind.

There are "cheats" named Second Wind ability (which restores your health) and resistances = immunity to strikes. You should not really try to defeat Medusa or any boss, hundreds of times. If you can't win, blame it on your build. Try (maybe) 3-4 times and then call it a day. Come back to face the same mythical boss, only after your build is significantly upgraded. Maximize resistances, health and damage and then everything becomes a piece of cake. You don't even need to reach level 99...
