Generally I position myself so that there is a pillar between me and her while I fight her minions....once the last of a group of minion falls she collapses to the ground for a few seconds so as soon as you kill the last bolt right for here and be ready to hit her with your strongest moves. After that she has two attacks....the explosive flashes that burst from under you, when she does that run and dodge but stay close to her so you can get a hit or two in before she moves....the second attack is the petrify beam, when she does that run behind the nearest pillar. At various points throughout the fight you go against three groups of her minions. I highly recommend that you have Second Wind handy to heal yourself and unless you have Hero Strike you should try to spec more for either warrior or hunter damage as assassin damage won't help you here without that ability.
If it makes you feel better I did no damage to her at all on my first attempt because I was too slow....she is only vulnerable very briefly after an attack and for a bit longer after you defeat a group of her minions....so you have very small windows in which you can do damage.
Hope this helps, good luck.
She was a tough one for sure! It took me a couple of tries to finally defeat her, I just took lots of community advice from here which really helped. Looks like some players have posted some great tips here as well!Let us know how it goes the second time around when you take her on again!

Hard difficulty, i managed to beat her on the first try but with my endgame gear around lvl65, so i was pretty much beefed up.
Battlecry of Ares is handy, if you don't have it worth to respec, it's a go-to skill for mythical creatures due to their high damage output, so a well timed BoA can save your life. Second Wind also mandatory, but i think you already know that.
Medusa isn't necessarily harder than the other creatures, rather more frustrating/annoying because you have to constantly hide from her petrifying beam, and she teleports. Make sure to have the arrows refilled to max, and then just do pop shots at her while peeking from behind the pillars when she is using her beam. If you can get close to her, you can hit her a couple times before she teleports away/hit you. .
At times she summons minions, but they are pretty fragile so they can be eliminated quickly, but if you struggle Battlecry of Ares helps again. At this phase of the battle, she ascends and surround herself with the barrier which goes away after you killed the minions.
As the barrier drops, she gets stunned for a brief time, which is the perfect time for an overpower attack (or 2 if you are fast enough and have enough adrenaline) and ring of chaos/hero strike/bull rush, anything that could do a nice damage to her. If you are lucky with the crit, you can do some serious damage. Best to do it to lure the last standing minion with little hp closer to her, finish it, so when she will drop down you will be able to attack her straight away. I think this phase happens 2 times during the battle.
Elemental damage is your friend, either posion or fire, just keep her burned/poisoned with either arrows or basic attacks whenever you have the chance. The damage adds up over time.
One general advice for hunting mythical creatures also in any game. Some one posted it in another thread.
* Don't try to kill the beast on the 1st attempt, try to learn something and be ready to die of course.
* Maybe set music to zero, because it usually just creates stress. (other sounds may help to recognize the creature's action patterns)
I usually attempt to kill everything with an ad hoc strategy like 1-3 times.
If it looks promising (like "i just had bad luck") thats it: try again until it works.
If it doesn't work the fall back is taking easier targets first and be ready to die.
1) Find the mob's action pattern, learn the essence of its attacks (how do i know what attack is next, line of sight necessary? is it elemental or melee? ware there times when it may it's defensives are down? can i trigger that?)
2) How to dodge these attacks? What is needed to maintain survival at a constant pace indefinitely?
3) Congratulations: If you know how to survive, the beast has lost already. Now you just need to find a way to dish out a little damage from time to time.
I usually stay behind a pillar and wait for her to shoot her beam. While she is shooting the beam I position myself so I can just see her head and I shoot her with a death arrow or two. About that time she is doing her AoE attack and I dodge to not get hit by it and behind the pillar again waiting for the beam. If she moves I just reposition around the pillar.
Honestly, in the videos I have watched I think they must be on console, the minions move slow and pause between attacks. In my game they move fast and keep on swinging.
In the videos Medusa rarely teleports and you can fire arrows at her from around pillars when she giving you the stare. In my game, she teleports every time I get a blow in and when I try to shoot her from around a pillar her laser beams hit me.
So far I have defeated the minitour, sphinx and the cyclops. It took me around five attempts to kill the minitour and the cyclops, but this snake head so far got me beat.
I'm not crying, I was hoping there might be a console command or such to help defeat her. I'm going to try again after I have had a cup of coffee.
Thanks for all of your tips and help, much appreciated.
Use Second Wind to regain health, throw arrows and stay behind pillars....
Or do it my way and kill her in just one attempt: Easy mode, light enemy level scaling, poisoned daggers and lots of Second Wind. You must have engravings that fill up your adrenaline bars very quickly because your health will be re-filled at least 10 times before you kill her.
I finally killed her, but I think I have broken my new mouse.
I was on zero health, it was all down to who got the next hit in. Boy, I feel like I was actually there doing the fighting, I think I need a couple of day's rest.
Happy to now get back to having fun, that was no fun. It really shouldn't be like that when you play on easy.
How many was it of those bosses are there? I don't think I want to see another one.![]()
With the medusa, you got all of the bosses for the Atlantis questline. There are two new cyclops bosses, but they are optional (if you don't mind not getting all trophies). Maybe there will come more, and there are some boss-like enemies in the DLC-episodes (but they are easier to fight than medusa).
