i stopped boarding ships, it just take to much time and yields not enough xp. Getting warcontracts done is just loads faster buy just flaming every ship down and be done with it.

These are meant to be game long problems or only achievable without grind in NG+ because the reality is you won't need them until the very high levels. My pre 1.1.4 Andrestia still destroyed mercenary and legendary ships with relative ease at level 70 after the new patch and now that I have them all no ship really poses a challange out at sea....these upgrades are likely intended for level 90+ ships and even then you can probably do without. It's really not a problem.
Ship upgrades were always Xpensive esp. w/ Gold status. I was hoping they'd call for Tablets again with the new patch but I guess we don't need them anymore?

The only resource that keeps me from being able to upgrade is Leather - I rarely hunt or kill animals so now I'm having to focus on leather farming when I never had to before.

On Tuesday with the weekly Ship Ori challenge, I didn't want to risk losing that battle without upgrading, so I took my ship out to test it on other Elite and heavy Trireme ships first and found that at least at Level 64, I didn't need to upgrade to sink them.
So I went and did the weekly ship after that.
I'll slowly upgrade what I can but since I'm not losing any battles and getting sunk out there, I think I'm fine at least till later levels?

Why are you fighting belly buttons in the first place?

Why would you ever pay to reduce bounty? I'm annoyed at how fast my bounty goes down from level 5... at level 5 you can corral 3-4 mercenaries together in a town or fort and ping pong rush assassinate between them for fun, profit and photography!

^ It doesn't really matter how fast it goes down, just take a swipe at an NPC or start a fight with some Soldiers in any red zone and you're back in business.
It's very easy to get bounties on you.
Imo, I think when you have 2 bounties, they stay too long.
If I need to do a mission, I just go kill the Sponsor with the highest bounty amt.

I might try to get a few bounties and try to lure the Mercs to try to help me take the farting boar out though. That might be fun since I know I'll just die repeatedly.
Boars are real nightmare for me. =)

The correct spelling of “naval” has been used by everyone in this thread.

“Navel” is an alternate term for the umbilicus.

Hey hey hey now, my meaning still stands. Don’t come here with that post-Spartan education. Nobody knew how to spell back then. Point is, they should be fighting boats, not waging laproscopic war.

I realize I'm probably in the minority here but I hate the bounty/mercenary system in this game. I like to play at my own pace and I find that difficult to do when I am constantly being tailed by bounty hunters. It doesn't help that these mercenaries are frequently using fire/poison damage, a system that I was convinced at first was bugged. When I use elemental attacks, it applies a bit more damage to my targets. When they use it on me, it practically one-shots me. I find it extremely frustrating but the fact that Ubisoft hasn't fixed it or even acknowledged it suggests that this is intended functionality, hard as that is for me to believe. So I quickly got into the habit of paying off bounties as soon as I attracted mercenary attention just so I wouldn't have to deal with it.

I don't have many complaints about this game but the bounty/mercenary system (as well as elemental damage unbalance) is one of them.

Up to a week ago, players were complaining about easily hitting the gold cap with nothing to spend money on, and now you can spend a lot of gold upgrading gear and engravings while it is a little harder to acquire.

It's never going to be fine, is it?
