I've played through every track so far and have gotten golds and platinums on all of them. This puts me at Level 37.
But for some reason the game won't let me race the next race because I need to be level 38? What the heck am I supposed to do? Re-race old tracks that I've already aced. I'm not at all interested in playing the same content over and over again. Why won't you let me move forward and just race the new tracks already?
Someone explain to me how forcing a grind on players is somehow better than just a simple, easy to understand list of tracks that unlock via simple, traditional progression.
If I'm not mistaken and I actually need to replay old tracks again and again just to move forward, well then I'm done with this game until its patched. And done with all Trials games and future content if they decide to keep it this way.
But hey loot boxes right?
I agree with you and your post wholeheartedly.
I know this looks like flexing but I played from levels 0 to 42 in my first session on launch day, getting only 0 fault golds and occasional platinums, 80% on my first try. So as you can probably tell I was looking forward to the more challenging levels as they are the reason I like this franchise. Then on my second session next day, it took almost as much time to get from 42 to 51 as it took on my first session to unlock Mantis. Now I apparently have to grind to level 58 just to get my first set of hard levels, and who knows what the requirements are for beyond. Considering the playerbase of this game I am slightly above average at best, this means that there are a lot of players who share my frustration of hitting a damn artificial roadblock just as the difficulty starts to ramp up.
This extreme emphasis on grinding, with a guest appearance of lootboxes that mostly drop common duplicates just reeks of greedy Ubi execs making the small studio to be their thralls. I really hate the fact that I am forced to repeat these effortless levels with some random modifiers like "do a X amount of backflips" just to slowly reach the content I bought the game for.
My main reason for repeating levels in any Trials game is when my friends come over for a Friday night and we take turns playing different levels and skill games while drinking beer. I absolutely hate the idea of being forced to do some damn circus tricks on the easy levels solo just to get to the hard difficulty and beyond.
