But is it worth the £8 worth of points it costs to buy?

For me it has been. And if you want to make your dude look like UKSF. MK18 > HK416, it's closer to the L119A2 than the 416 is.

I'm not sure about converting a SCAR-L to fire 7.62 NATO, though. The dimensions where the upper and lower receivers connect are different and the ejection port might be a bit too small, but I digress.
I was checking out the mk16 on the preview and noticed that it has markings on the upper with one saying "CAL 7.62mm".

*edit: all the markings are the same as the mk17

It is definitly worth the money, the one thing i don't like is the difference between the suppressor in the gunsmith and in the actual gameplay. The suppressor in the gunsmith fits way better than the one in the gameplay.

This had to be fixed .

Just means they probably reused the SCAR-H's texture on the SCAR-L.

As for the description, I'm pretty sure it's just using "Mk 17" in place of "SCAR" since the latter would probably require licensing. I interpret the description as "A lightweight SCAR chambered in 5.56 NATO." But that's just me.
