It's time to let it die

Ubisoft it's time to call it a day on the fc map editor. if you have any ideas for adding the map editor to far cry 6 PLEASE DONT. this community has had enough of false hope in the run up to each release. we always feel screwed 6 months down the line after release (except fc2) PLEASE JUST STOP IT, no more incomplete unsupported map editors. it's not worth the communities time. please stop making map editors. you just dont have what it takes im sorry, you just cant produce what the community wants.

Agreed! I would rather this than the constant frustration time and time again!

I wildly disagree. Please Ubisoft do not listen to this. If you stop creating a new editor for future Far cry’s I will stop buying them. AW Lost Soldier you make good maps and I appreciate your work, but respectfully I wildly disagree that they should let Far Cry Editor die. I will agree with you that I am not on board with some of Ubisofts decisions, I have mentioned this before several times... but still rather map on this editor then play any other game on the market.

I am a realistic artist and I am now using it as reference and landscape building tool to better improve my fine art. By building mini landscapes with nature assets and exploring lighting adjustments, I can more easily plan my landscapes before I start painting. I sell my art for part of my income, so building mini scenes to use as reference is a useful tool for my professional art career.

Disappointments aside I am finding real value with this editor.

So to add... if this editor is dead to you... ok your work will be missed, but I rather you just move on... this post seems pretty toxic.

Theres only so many times a community can be let down before it's had enough. think of it like this, the map editing community are like drugs addicts, we get hooked on mapping. ubi is the dealer. we try to kick the habbit by going months without a mapping hit then ubi releases a new game and we get addicted again only for ubisoft to pull out of the deal a few months after release letting us down. it's always a false dawn ALWAYS. ive been mapping for 10 years im as hardcore as they come. now ive woken up to reality. it was only a hobby for me but that hobby feels dead. there are many mappers who feel the editor should die, but they just wont say it because it makes it sort of final and they dont want to let go, which i understand. since i quit mapping my quality of life has improved by a large margin. more time to do real world stuff. for me, mapping turned from enjoyment to a grind, always putting pressure on myself to keep upping the quality of my maps. i knew i had enough when making my desolation map. something changed at that point and i knew it had to come to an end. i got to where i aimed for as a mapper. my goal was reached. 2009 to 2019 was a mountain to climb, passing certain people one by one until i reached the peak. end of story, job done, enemies defeated in style.

it was fun lurking in the facebook and discord groups under a different name (months). i like to keep my enemies very close VERY CLOSE. lol if they only knew. i was hating on myself in there for responses. never had to wait long. plenty of pm's.

btw insaneartist you do great work, keep it up and hope you keep enjoyng the editor, ive only got good things to say about you, you are one of the good guys.

AW LOST SOLDIER signing out 2009 - 2019.

Best of luck to you AW Lost Soldier. I understand your perspective and it sounds like it is time for you to move on if your life has improved since you quit. I will keep mapping and I know several friends who are enjoying it for now. I also know a few friends like you who are frustrated and have put it down. I get both perspectives. I have only been mapping since the beginning of FC4 so I don’t have as many years under my belt. I will admit I do enjoy it a bit too much (warts and all) but it would be better for my music especially if I used it a bit less. Ha ha. I am now happy that I am using it for a reference composition tool for my art. I am looking forward to ‘Dreams’ might offer a lot more then FC editor... will see. Anyway good luck with everything and thanks for your quality maps!
