I agree. I've never finished a game complete, and I am a completionist, in 29 hours. Game is more like a expansion pack. And the RAP music is the most annoying and disqusting music ive been forced to listen to. The FarCry with the malaria was worst game you guys made, but this may supersede that one as worse. I spent over 590 fun hours on 5, over 450 fun hours on 4, but this one I barely had any enjoyment with 31 hours.
Ubisoft, there isnt anythng wrong with farcry New Dawn, some ppl just like seeing how many ppl will give him attention . I love all the farcry series i had to choose between this n metro done alot of game play viewing between the two. You have given excellent games. I have been a hard core gamer whn commador 64 was the in. So just keep up the good work, unlike bethesda thy are the perfect example of money grabbing n throwing a product out that wasnt finished. Thnks for the great games.
Dude seriously ? You do know there r settings to turn the music off? N i have been playing more thn 3 days, you must b one that runs through a game or lvl just to see how fast you can get to the end. Other games are 10.00 to 15.00 n more for half the game play time. Maybe instead of blaming thm you should have done some research , no one made you buy it .
I'd like to know if this one has drug zombies and forced captures like FC5? If so, I'll probably pass on it. Please put the response in spoiler tags, as it's a new title. I expect there to be less content due to the $40 price tag, I'm more concerned about the quality of the content. I'm also hoping there's more Clutch Nixon challenges. Much of FC5 was horrid, thus my concerns.
Like any FC game, one can blow through this if they choose, and miss out on a lot of the experience. I've said this is like ordering a filet mignon and wolfing it down like a big mac.
If they had made this an expansion of 5, then that would have required one buy 5, and people with no desire to buy/play 5 would not like that at all. At launch, 5 was $59 and at launch this was $39. I am happy they did not charge the standard $59 release price because obviously there is a lot of recycling of work that went into 5... like the map layout, etc. To me, it is a fair price. But I may feel differently when I get further into it.
One way I gauge value of a game is how many hours I end up really playing it. I like to see at least 200hrs out of a AAA game. For this one, I'll be happy if I get 120hrs. Not sure how much replay value there is with this one, but I found FC5 to be of little value post completion of the story. I didn't really latch onto the arcade mode.
So far I'm liking it more than 5. I read a mod say it has no forced capture missions, and so far same seems true of drug zombies, shape changing animals, etc. The companions don't seem to rattle on constantly either, though I won't know until I have two of them tag along. The last one was only seriously hurt by that crap. This one plays a bit more realistic. The performance also seems better. I can play it on 4K DSR on my 1080 SC and average a smooth 40 FPS because if you set the framerate lock right, it works. That said, I won't know until I experience huge battles with tons of effects and AI whether I'll need to drop to 1440p60.
That said, I have had a couple problems at the end of my session last night. I found and hijacked one of those trucks with a red icon above it thinking it was one you could benefit from taking to a safehouse. Turns out it was a cage truck holding a prisoner. I waited until I got to Prosperity base to free him, but I could only open the door. He sat there unshackled repeatedly asking me to free him without moving. I decided to try punching him to see if I could snap him out of it. No go, and one punch too many killed him. Then as I tried to interact with the garage side Enter prompt to get into Prosperity Base, the game crashed. Fortunately I spawned inside the base when I restarted the game.
Hope these bugs aren't a regular thing though. Some say it's best to run the game in W7 compatibility mode on W10 to avoid such things. Anyone know if this is true? I'm only using run as admin so far. I was planning to use ReShade to change all the hot pink to blue or something, like one poster here showed he'd done, but I'm not sure if I want to go that far with these AI and crashing problems.
Pls don't get me wrong, I am a big Farcry fan but $80 Can. for this version I feel was way over priced compaired to the previous versions. As several have said really only about 30 hrs. of playing time .and really only that long because of the 3 level difficulty the remote bases. There is lots to like about the game but not at this price
Just back to report I've not had a prisoner in a cage truck not get out since that one time I drove it all the way back to Prosperity. In fact in over 1 and a half play throughs I've not had ANY cases with a loot truck's doors not opening either like some have mentioned. Lastly, it appears what was causing the crashing I was having once or twice a session is the HD Texture Pack. Since uninstalling it I've played 2 long sessions with no crashes. I don't recall the HD Pack saying anything about a 4K display being required, but that may be something to do with it as I only have a 1080p display.
As far as judging monetary value in a game for time spent playing them, howlongtobeat.com rates FC New Dawn at 11.5 hrs Main Story, 16.5 hrs Main + Extra, and 21.5 hrs Completionist. However they also rate RE 2 Remake at only 8 hrs Main Story and 11 hrs Main +Extra, and it's getting rave reviews. The point is any campaign 8 hrs or more in a shooter these days can be acceptable, and more so if those feel like good hours spent. Homefront: The Revolution for instance is 28 hrs Completionist, but many of those hrs are boring filler stuff.
Ok, the game cost $39, not full price. I've put a lot of hours into it and I'm only through 1/2 the main missions. I'm not a fanboy by any stretch, but I like the way Far Cry plays, and New Dawn is no exception. I didn't pre-order it due to being skeptical, but after watching some game play and seeing some of the reviews I decided to download it.Originally Posted by Horsepucky2 Go to original post
Discovering and playing with Nana was well worth the $39. What a joy that was! Her dialogue just cracks me up. If I get 15-20 hours out of it then the money is well spent IMO.
