Hopefully, enough old-schoolers can lead the charge with technical customs...well as technical as they can be...time will tell what can be acheived in this game. The Pit-Viper was way too dumbed-down IMO and I’m glad to kiss it good-bye. I thought the Evo Phoenix was a good compromise between being accessible and being able to do tech moves. My riding skills aren’t the greatest, which is why i build the way i do, but I’m willing to learn.

Hi everyone! It's great to see so many players having followed the series from the earliest episode still enjoying the game!
From what we start to see the customization and the track editor will allow everyone to basically recreate any thing they loved in any Trials game ever!

We are really exited to see what the community comes up with.

Yeah so excited for this, loved the beta and the possibilities with the customization and the new editor, just wow. This is going to be good. I remember myself finding about Trials 2 right when its Second Edition came out. Mad selfless love since then for those series. :P

Kinda irrelevant, but since we're talking about roots i will mention it anyway. Today i remembered the old official site about T2SE that worked as a database too, leaderboards, progress tracking etc. Felt great to see it's still up there, those names on the leaderboards brought many memories back, my almost 250 faults on the inferno one of those memories. Lol never bothered completing this one.

Anyway, can't wait for the release in two days and all the insane stuff that people will come up with for sure.

Track Central will be amazing on this game, having all the legacy items in the creator will mean builders can go wild, not only with new stuff but also recreating old tracks. From what I played of the Beta I thought the tracks were really fun, possibly a bit less technical as you say, but that wont matter too much when people like Murdoch, MPC, Xzamples, Willy etc, get back on the wagon. Compared with Fusion (which after playing 1000's of hours of HD and Evo was my least played by a MILE) this is a return to what I love. I just wish there was a simple track list like on HD, and also music selector as the Metal stuff makes my ears bleed. I really hoped with all the legacy items in the creator there would also be a legacy soundtrack, keeping fingers crossed for the old HD d'n'b tunes!

From the beginning they've been making Trials more and more accessible by making the main bikes rotate/lean faster. Leaning gets more responsive, the game gets more forgiving. On T2SE if you exit an obstacle in a bad way you don't have time to correct it and it will hurt your run. On HD, you can re-adjust easier and correct more of your mistake before the next obstacle - it will still cost you time but less. On Evo less again.

But I think it went a step further with Fusion and they made the Pit Viper easier to handle in general. To me it just felt like a lightweight Roach, with huge backwheel grip to compensate for it not being as dexterous as the Phoenix used to be. And that's really when technical ridelines took a big hit imo, both in career and track central.

My memory of Fusion is that 80% of its hard obstacles involved completely flat, angled platforms, a bit longer than the length of the bike. And 80% of ninja obstacles were really steep hills - not because no one wanted to build more technical things but because that's all the bike was good for. I tried building tracks back then and I could never get anything going. If you built techy stuff, it felt bad to ride. If you built to suit the bike, it just felt boring.

Rising looks good overall and the Mantis feels better than the Pit Viper did to me - little worried about the bmx outperforming it on basic extremes, but it's too early to judge I guess. I need trials back in my life anyway so I'll be playing this one regardless.

Been a long time since I've been on the Trials scene. I get exactly what Murdoch is talking about. The majority of the new tracks rely heavily on the "hit jump fast with a wheely switch jump trick". MY favorite tracks were ones where you only need to throttle sparsely. Reality Check on Trials HD was a great example. Lots of bumps and hops, maintaining momentum is a struggle.

I still play trials from time to time. I get fun out of the new ones and was pretty impressed with the Beta. Im surprised to see how difficult the Diamond metals are to get, I've only managed like 3 or 4 and some I am really far off. Its refreshing to see challenges I dont get after 10 minutes of trying... Still, I wish more of the levels were designed to try and slow you down instead of keep your throttle mashed.

Hi Snout, thanks for dropping in. Sounds like it's on the community to come up with it's own content. I love that trials is sort of turning into it's own social network like YouTube & Twitch, relying on your users to create the content is very smart business. Interested to see how you guys handle the partnering and monetizing end of things.

HD had the best story and menu system!

Hey WILLY. nice to see your name again. So many good points here. IMO these changes have opened up space for a trials sim. Ten years ago it would have been too saturated, but now the market is wet for a deeper experience.

One clear difference to HD days is that the bike does not behave the same way on the tiny collisions compared to the jellylike bike of HD.

But I understand the longing for old school technical tracks, some of us devs also love them.

Great thing is that the editor allows anyone to create just the type of driving lines they want and also Rising has some more technical later levels that are inspired by old school tracks. I for one am excited to see what kind of technical tracks people will create.
