Will trials ever go back to its root?

Trials had a very great gameplay in both first and second episode, but since Ubisoft bought it, they totally changed the game into a fantasy press gas and the game autoplays itself til the end, no skills needed. In Trials Second Edition you had to balance yourself, use techniques to go through obstacles, I really miss that feeling of the game.

I'm not trying to sound rude, but have you ever played Trials HD, Evolution or Fusion tracks, especially Hard or Extreme?

Going even further then the in-game tracks are the player made Ninja tracks, with obstacles requiring even more specific controls to overcome.

Even on the lower difficulty tracks, there are riding techniques to save time even if it's a fraction of a second.

Trials Rising is actually the epitome of going back to the Roots because it contains Editor Objects from Trials HD (2010), Evolution (2012), Fusion (2014). Blood Dragon (2016)

I feel your pain Kisk, the technical side of the trials franchise has been stripped away & replaced with childish schemes. I too would love to see a return to the trials roots. Perhaps there's enough of us around to support another game in this space, for example: when tony hawk kept dumbing down their games & EA came along to claim the hardcore skateboarding market.

Ever think of the fackt you are now mutch better at the game? Pretty sure the extreme and hard tracks are just as hard now then they were back in the days when you were new to the game.

Interesting theory but, not talking about difficulty kell, I'm a huge fan of technical tracks. What I think kisk & I are getting at is the smooth ramps that cover nearly every track in the game as well as the general hold down the gas mentality that has overthrown the old school roots. For example: to this day I still have not been able to hit the timesaver on building blocks, an easy track that is not about holding down the gas.

I'd love to see a trials game that take's itself seriously. Think if Forza or Project Cars wanted to hop into the trials simulator space. It's the difference between NBA JAM & NBA 2K.

I think ubi turned the fun & silly knob up but in so doing, they've completely alienated the hardcore market.

Since I'm still not sure: Are you talking about the Easy/Medium tracks or the whole game? Because starting at the late medium tracks the "hold down the gas"-mentality stops. The hard/extreme tracks are technical and got even harder if you take Trials HD or Evolution in comparison. So they streamlined Easy/Medium and really got the flow going there to open up to more casual gamers but the technicality is still there, starting later. At least that what I feel and I'm also here since HD.

PS: The Question is, if they build a technical game, maybe starting with medium difficulty, how many people will buy that? To be honest, the new easy tracks are fun to look at, but I also don't need them. But I get why they're there.

I've been watching fusion streams for a couple months now and even the hardest ninja tracks in fusion are full of the flat ramps that medium tracks are built from - There's been a huge departure from The bumpy technical riding that was present & acceptable in the older games - No I'm not talking about difficulty

If anything I'm talking about how they've decreased the amount of required inputs per obstacle. They've made the bike harder to crash, easier to climb with & all around less punishing.

Ok, same thing applies: If you'd build a real trials game, like the java ones, the casuals will stay away if they can't beat the first level without a lot of input. But maybe Redlynx will cater to the fans with a technical dlc some day or even a (good) remake of the se, hd & evo tracks (WITH DLC THIS TIME). Since there's no serious competition, that's your only hope. Or only play custom tracks.

Its the track builders who keep the hardcore marked (and game) alive, you made some classics yourself Murdoc.
I dont understand the "the hardest ninjas are built with flat panels even the medium tracks are made from" comment...?
I didnt start until Evo, so maybe im missing something tho.
