Note: 10: Homeopathics were replaced by Eden's Gift perks.Originally Posted by St.Million Go to original post
7: Map is definitely too small. About 80 percent of the Whitetail Mountains, about 50 percent of the Henbane River region got wiped out. For really no good reason (okay, probably to shorten development time, which is a good reason for the developers but not so good for the players). Strangely, if you spawn a helicopter and fly high enough along the radiation line near the eastern part of the Henbane River region, you will see that the area around Faith's Bunker has living trees. Scrapped content?
12: No Jess, and not even a note about her fate (unless I missed something, which is possible). She was a GfH and she was popular with a lot of players, she deserved better. For Pete's sake, they put effort into documenting the fate of relatively insignificant characters (for example, the comic book collector, Nadine Abercrombie, or Skylar Kohrs' boyfriend, Dylan, who was never actually seen in Far Cry 5).
17: Amen to that.
Plus, no Bliss flowers. Not even a small patch. Before the Collapse, the Bliss flowers were the rage, the Cult stockpiled the dried flowers and the Bliss seeds. Now, there are only a few racks of dried Bliss flowers in New Eden and a rather nonsensical Bliss gas reservoir under the remains of Joseph's statue.
Unremarkable soundtrack: Far Cry 5 had a brilliant ST. The Cult outposts with their spiritual music and the Heralds' recorded sermons were excellent. The Highwayman outposts are like "Oh, boy, now you'll learn to appreciate silence".
By the way, the Rook outfit you get to wear in New Dawn is actually Hudson's outfit. If you put on the Rook outfit and take a close-up of your character in photo-mode, you can clearly see the name "J. Hudson".
Edens gift is different... And not as useful for general play. There is no equivalent of "The Fast", which had multiple uses. Even if just catching up with your co-op player who had moved some distance away, or to help minimise the athsmatic running around tedium. Furthermore there is no equivalent "Ultimate hunter", which was a life-saver when visibility was low, or if you just needed to identify the enemy in a hurry. Or if you're hunting.Originally Posted by millamerani Go to original post
'Edens gift' does not replace homeopathics. It's just a much less useful alternative.
It's an enjoyable game even more so in coop but boy is it short and with no further support for new content it's nothing more than a cash grab from a loyal fanbase. Too loyal it seems, like hitting your dog but it'll still come back moments later for a pat on the head.
In contrast 'Curse of the Pharaohs' (DLC!) for Origins was a huge new map with 3 mini maps inside of it with 20hrs of gameplay for $19 at launch.
A lot of rose coloured spectacles in this thread. Ubisoft was well aware they had a weak short story hence the grind for legendary weapons to take down op enemies.
In so far except the Primal I have all games in F.C. series. To me, there was decrease in quality from the FC3. While FC4 was still fairly OK, atlhough it was to me like big DLC with some changes, I had some major issues with FC5. Thus I am quite reluctant to buy this part. Can you give me some feedback about FC5 and FC: ND and my issues?
1. obviously the infamous kidnapping and forced story missions.
is there anything alike?
2. major decrease in the stealth gameplay
FC3 I played in ninja-style, mostly using all takedowns in missions. In FC5 I found all advanced takedowns other than the basic one as useless and too difficult to use and even mission areas were not very suitable for infiltration and slow elimination of the guards. It was too frustrating thus long range silent sniping was a simple answer - just it was also killing fun.
3. AI
Enemies sometimes blind even when standing next to them, other time equipped with some X-Ray / thermal / radar sight able to find you in second anywhere. Enhancing issue No. 2.
4. "Bubble" around you.
In simple words - very small area around you where anything outside just disappeared. You lost hunted animals and loot just because you made a few steps back or for a second lost direct visual contact, you made aircraft attack on the roadblock, made turn for another strafing pass and road was empty. Is there still this nonsense (plague present in FC3 to FC5)
5. Hunting
Only few animals responded properly (like deers) to shot that was not enough for instant kill in crawling away and dying later. And 1-shot kill for some animals required headshot from .50 BMG that made hunting utterly ridiculous. Well, sometimes .45-70 Armor-piercing headshot was able to do the same. Bow was (almost) useless due to required number of hits.
6. HUD
Misleading, faulty, hard to see / follow.
7. Wingsuit and parachute more difficult to engage / use.
8. Drugs, drugs, drugs
I mean - those stupid story missions that since FC3 have to happen in arena designed by somebody under some strong stuff
There were some others but this ones are the most prominent ones that are now in my mind.
1. No kidnapping. Nothing equivalent IMO (and I've finished all the missions).
2. I agree that FC5 is harder for stealth players than earlier entries in the series. FCND seems to be the same. I am usually able to defeat outposts undetected, but I have to snipe most of the baddies rather than using takedowsn.
3. In all FC games I've had enemies run right by me without seeming to detect me. Due to my experience as a FC4/FC5 map maker, I'm guessing this happens when your locality has a lot of action going on -- your PC/console can't keep up. This seems to happen more often in FC5/FCND than in previous versions. When there aren't many enemies, FC5/FCND seems more likely to detect me.
4. This hasn't been a problem for me (on PC).
5. I don't think hunting is realistic in FC5/FCND but I don't think it needs to be. Players must adapt to do whatever is necessary. I was able to defeat all the "monstrous" animals in FCND without much trouble once I'd leveled up.
6. I like the new HUD.
7. I'm not a fan of these in any of the games -- just use them when absolutely necessary. So I'm not able to comment on this.
8. If you're saying some of the missions are intense, I would agree.
