With Fusion RedLynx introduced a feature that made platform choice a little less important with cross platform track central. (I’ve been out of the loop, is cross platform Track Central confirmed for Rising?)
The PS4 has outsold the Xbox One by quite a bit so if you’re looking at the largest pool of competition you might want to look there. There’s still going to be top tier players on every platform, though. I think it comes down to what controller is the most comfortable for you, the one you can be the most precise with. If you go with PC, then you’re in luck because it’s super easy to try the X1, X360, and DS4 controllers all on one platform without needing to buy some special dongle.
That being said, the Trials community is incredibly inclusive and it doesn’t really matter where you play because if you play at all, no matter your skill, you’re one of us.
I have played the beta on PS4 and switch, and I have got to say, the switch version is incredibly good. The graphics are obviously not as great due to the hardware, but the most important part is on par - the gameplay is definitely spot on.
As someone mentioned, being able to play trials on the move is a great thing, plus playing it in handheld mode feels like the console trials was made for, and the game the switch was designed for.
Preordered on switch as the cross platform leaderboards sealed the deal.
For me, it’s Switch all the way.
I bought Fusion on X1, but there’s no way I can pass up HD handheld Trials. Framerate has been solid during gameplay, so that’s not an issue. Seems to be full 720p in handheld mode too, and looks terrific. Docked a little less so, but it’ll do. Looks good enough. Small sacrifices are worth getting console and handheld combined.
The one real detractor is the analog, but as it turns out, playing with the stick works pretty dang well. I’m glad this open beta let me try the game. It seemed bizarre at first, I guess that’s just because I’m not used to playing games with the right stick for analog throttle.
