    (FEEDBACK) CONSIDERiNG PURCHASE...

Ok. So I was ultimately disappointed with FARCRY5.

    1) It was frustratingly easy, apart from the on rail sections (which were poorly balanced).
FC5 introduced a new health regen that was so aggressive I barely had to use cover in a gunfight. All but killed the game for me.
Previous FC games — the way the upgrade system was devised meant you could in effect still tweak the difficulty by not upgrading your health or unlocking specific buffs.
Also Guns/Fangs for hire was a great mechanic that I really liked. But because the game was too easy, using them became largely redundant.

    2) The spawn in rate/random world encounters was simply ridiculous. In fact it was insane..
I believe ‘less is more’. Things have more impact when seen less often. When you have killed about 3-4 big brown bears within the space of a few minutes, it’s starts getting a little silly, breaking immersion.

    These were my main complaints.

So I was quietly hoping that New Dawn would address the above, as I thought FC5 was actually an ok game.

I’m also really wanting to play a squad based shooter. There’s hasn’t been one in years.
I really like the guns for hire mechanic and if the game were more of a challenge, I think New Dawn might fill that void.
Although I have read that ND has reduced your companion count from 2 to 1, which is disappointing and rather puzzling.

Nevertheless I’ve read so far that FC New Dawn does address the insane spawn in rate, and this has been toned down.

With regard to the difficulty of the game, it’s not entirely clear?

Is there any official word on whether the game is harder than FC5 ?

Only from what places like PC Gamer have said and you can only take whatever they said with a pinch of salt.

Having played the series since #3 came out, I did enjoy #5 more than #4 it's just that Vaas is still a tough job to follow for an antagonist. I'm not expecting too much from this myself, if I had to guess i'd say it might just be slighter better than 5 as far as gameplay goes but as far as the story goes we'll know this time tomorrow.

Do you want to support anti caucasian male idealogy? If so then buy the game.

I've only got a bit more than an hour into the game. Given my minimal experience; it appears Ubi has dialed back the hostile animal encounters (there are still "lotsa" Highwayman encounters) [opportunities to die]. I just got done wiping out my first "mutant" bear. It took more than 30 7.62 x 54R rounds from a Dragonuv to kill the bullet sponge ****** (many, if not most were head shots). Much more crafting, and inventory, and facilities management than FC 5, no eating, drinking, or sleeping requirements.

Character models look improved over FC 5 on my rig @ 2K ultra (less DOF)), and it runs smoothly.

Intro cut scene and tutorial sections were better done than FC 5, but still pretty long--------------with the not too surprisingly "you get butt stroked in the face and lose all your **** before the end of the intro".

BTW: I bought the base version of the game.

PS: Haven't figured out how to turn off the subtitles yet! GGGGGGRRRRR!!!!!!

    Ok thanks....

Keep me updated. Could also confirm whether you can only have 1 Companion (Gun for Hire) at a time ???? When
You can have 2 in FC5... That makes no sense!

I played some more this AM (I'm in EST-in the US). I looked at the GFH page in game and the perk page--I DID NOT see a perk to add a second GFH, so I'm assuming it's one GFH only . Please feel free to correct me if anyone else knows differently!

The weapons are heavily biased to force you into using "the clown weapons" e.g. saw blade crossbow and such. The 1911 .45 does 70 dmg, the AR-C does 38 dmg, the sawblade does 200 dmg, and you can craft a longbow made from a handy stick and a string that, if I remember rightly, does 300 dmg. Of course I'm only on tier 1 of this RPG themed version of FC, so I don't know how things will be balanced in tier II and III yet.

I shot a wild boar in the head 6 times at point blank range with a Dragonuv, and still got my *** kicked. I now have an especially sharp stick as my back up weapon; and I've stocked up on a large quantity of bad language (which I'll be directing at those wankers at Ubi for balancing the weapons like this).

Since Health hasn't been brought up yet in this thread, it still seems to be the same mechanism but it also seemed to me that the recharge rate was considerably slower (three difficulty levels, I selected the middle(default) one called 'Tougher') so you don't feel as invincible as you did in FC5

Ok.... well that’s good at least. Wish there was an option to turn off health regen....

I think I actually saw that option last night. Not for sure. Will check it tonight and report back.

    Ahhhh. Thanks for updating me.
Well that is disappointing. Why they take out the ability to have 2 Guns for Hire? That makes no sense. I thought it was really fun having different combinations...?

Weapons? I hate using goofy weapons. The saw blade looks kinda fun, but it would never be my preferred weapon.

Can you upgrade regular weapons? And do they have normal skins not some goofy paint job?
